This role partners closely with software engineering, analytics, QA, and business stakeholders to build reliable data models, improve system performance, strengthen data quality, and support secure access to critical business information. The ideal candidate combines strong SQL and data modeling expertise with a practical mindset, sound documentation practices, and a commitment to accuracy in a regulated financial services environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Design and maintain logical and physical database schemas that support application development, reporting, and operational workflows.
    • Create and optimize tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and queries for performance, scalability, and reliability.
    • Partner with software engineers and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective data models and database solutions.
    • Support data integration, migration, and transformation efforts across internal platforms and third-party systems.
    • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to improve response times and stability.
    • Establish and maintain data integrity, referential consistency, and validation standards across database environments.
    • collaborate on and document database standards, naming conventions, dictionaries, and technical design artifacts.
    • Assist with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning to protect business-critical data assets.
    • Collaborate with security, compliance, and engineering partners to ensure proper access controls and secure handling of sensitive information.
    • Participate in release planning, testing, and production support for database changes and deployments.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of database architecture, development practices, and data governance processes.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 3-5 years of experience in database engineering, database design, data architecture, or a similar technical role.
    • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience designing relational database structures.
    • Experience with data modeling concepts for transactional and analytical systems.
    • Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
    • Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery practices, and change management.
    • Experience supporting ETL/ELT processes, data migrations, or system integrations.
    • Ability to document technical designs clearly and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
    Preferred Qualifications

    • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern data warehousing concepts.
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, or similar enterprise database platforms.
    • Exposure to Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar work management tools.
    • Experience supporting reporting, analytics, or business intelligence initiatives.
    • Knowledge of data governance, audit readiness, and sensitive data handling best practices.
    • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving business priorities.
    What We Value

    • Professionals who communicate clearly, collaborate well, and take ownership of outcomes.
    • Team members who value data quality, thoughtful design, and continuous improvement.
    • People who can balance speed, accuracy, and security in a business-critical environment.
    What We Offer

    • Dental, vision, life, and short- and long-term disability insurance.
    • Student loan repayment assistance and tuition reimbursement.
    • Catered Friday lunches, stocked kitchens, and a collaborative team environment.
    • Opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing company with meaningful impact.

This is a primarily onsite role with genuine flexibility. Core collaboration hours are 10 AM - 3 PM; manage your full schedule around that. Need a morning at home for an appointment? Handle it.
