Job description

This Postdoctoral Research Fellow will develop predictive, spatio-temporal models of plant phenology to understand how flowering time responds to increasing aridification and changes in precipitation regimes. The research integrates historical and contemporary datasets to build robust, process-based ecological forecasts for the American Southwest. The postdoc will work on over 100 species common throughout the region, allowing to test if differences in life history affect shifts in flowering due to climate.
Primary research and model development:

 
-Integrate multiple sources of data: Combine historical herbarium records, ground-truth field survey observations, and high-frequency digital camera imagery from the PhenoCam Network to capture phenological changes across both space and time.
-Database management: Standardize, clean, and integrate diverse datasets (meteorological, phenocam, and specimen records) into a cohesive database for model training and validation.
-Build Bayesian models: Develop hierarchical models in a Bayesian framework to predict how flowering time cycles shift in response to changing precipitation regimes.
Project Deliverables, Dissemination, and Mentorship:
-Scientific publishing: Author peer-reviewed manuscripts detailing model outputs and the ecological impacts of shifting precipitation regimes.
-Conference presentations: Disseminate findings at relevant national and international scientific conferences.
