About the Team & Role

The WEX SQL Server Database Administrator will be responsible for the maintenance, performance, monitoring, and recoverability of the SQL database environments. This role will be part of a team which is responsible for the health and stability of the entire SQL Server Database platform.

How you'll make an impact

  • Provide support for production databases including performance monitoring, daily management to prevent data loss, unplanned downtime or performance degradation.

  • Install, administer, and maintain schema and data to ensure maximum availability.

  • Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware and application software

  • Monitor and optimize data lake ingestion processes

  • High level knowledge with SQL Server internals, database design, T-SQL, backup/restore, security and understanding of performance tuning and troubleshooting.

  • Participates in a 24x7x365 OnCall Rotation

  • Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing exercises

Experience you'll bring

  • 5+ years of overall IT experience working with SaaS or web development

  • 5+ years of hands on SQL Server Database administration

  • 3-5 years experience with SQL Server Extended Events

  • Proficient using Powershell

  • 3+ years of managing SQL Server Database in Azure

  • Experience with Azure DevOps

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field

Desired Additional Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of SQL Server Transactional Replication.

  • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot SQL Server version 2019 and higher.

  • Experience using SQL Server DMVs to identify and troubleshoot performance problems.

  • Proficient at SQL Server Query and server-level tuning.

  • Deep knowledge of SQL Server Availability Groups.

  • Experience with third-party monitoring tools such as SQL Sentry, SQL Monitor, etc.

  • Some knowledge with ETL tools such as SSIS.

  • Experience with Source Control especially Azure DevOps repositories and GitHub.

  • Knowledge and experience with industry standard change and incident management procedures.

  • Self-starter capable of working independently or in groups.

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
