Job Title: Estimating Manager

Position Summary
The Estimating Manager is responsible for leading the estimating department and overseeing the preparation of accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates and proposals for construction projects. This role manages estimators, develops estimating standards and processes, collaborates with preconstruction and operations teams, and supports strategic business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of estimators and preconstruction staff
  • Prepare and oversee detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents for scope clarity
  • Develop and maintain estimating procedures, databases, and historical cost data
  • Assess and improve upon estimating systems and processes, as necessary, to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and competitiveness of estimates/proposals.
  • Coordinate subcontractor and supplier pricing, bid leveling, and scope analysis
  • Participate in project turnover meetings with project management teams
  • Identify risks, value-engineering opportunities, and cost-saving strategies
  • Support business development by assisting with bid strategy and presentations
  • Ensure estimates align with company financial goals and market conditions
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of construction estimating experience.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost drivers
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Sage/Timberline, Bluebeam, OST)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to manage multiple bids/proposals and deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
Preferred Experience
  • Experience estimating projects involving civil, mechanical, and or HVAC disciplines.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Experience working with both public and private clients.
  • Familiarity with federal bid processes and regulations.
