Job description

We are seeking an Administration Assistant to join our team! You will perform clerical and administrative functions in the office of Good Shepherd Episcopal church. Good judgement and discretion regarding pastoral confidentiality is critical to this position.  The individual selected serves as the front line church contact by phone and in-person. Scheduled hours are Monday-Friday with not more than 20 hours per week on average.  Office hours are generally 9:30-1:30 but may be negotiated slightly.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft correspondences and other formal documents
  • Plan and schedule church appointments and events 
  • Greet and assist onsite guests
  • Answer inbound telephone calls
  • Creates and distributes weekly church announcement by e-mail
  • Prepares and prints worship bulletins and inserts
  • Maintains a parish database of members
  • Develops a monthly church newsletter and mails out to parishioners
  • Sorts, labels and mails the bulk mailings per USPS specification
  • Keeps Office Manager aware of office supply requests
  • Assists with informational needs of families for funerals, weddings and special events
  • Perform all other office tasks

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in office administration or other related fields
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Polite  written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (database, spreadsheets, e-mail, word processing, etc.)
