Job description

Database Administrator

Must be in Central MN and have reasonable commute to St. Cloud, MN due to in-office requirements.

SCHEDULE: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

COMPENSATION: Starting Pay $67,000 – $83,750 per year. (The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.)

WHO WILL SHINE IN THIS ROLE

Are you looking for an opportunity to grow your career, build hands-on SQL Server experience, and work with a supportive team? PCI is seeking a Database Administrator who is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to learn.

In this role, you'll monitor and maintain SQL Server databases, troubleshoot issues, write T-SQL queries, and support critical business systems while working closely with our Data Architecture team.

This is an excellent opportunity to build your database administration skills, gain exposure to modern data platforms, and grow through mentorship, hands-on experience, and continuous learning.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Monitors the performance, availability, and health of on-prem SQL Server database environments, escalating issues as needed.
  • Performs routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, indexing, and SQL Server Agent job monitoring.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots database errors, connectivity issues, and performance issues using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and related tools, under the guidance of the data architecture team.
  • Supports database security processes, including user access provisioning, permission reviews, and adherence to established security standards.
  • Provides day-to-day production support and enhancement work for existing database applications, reports, and dashboards, tracking and resolving requests through the team's ticketing system.
  • Participates in an on-call support rotation as needed.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in database administration/database development or similar experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL Server and relational database concepts, including tables, indexes, queries, and backups.
  • Intermediate skill with T-SQL, or a demonstrated ability to learn new technical concepts quickly.

Nice to have but not Required!

  • Internship, coursework, or academic project experience with SQL Server or another relational database platform.
  • Exposure to database security, performance monitoring, or troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Windows Server, or IT ticketing/service management systems.
  • Microsoft SQL Server or Azure Data Fundamentals certification, or related coursework.
