To thrive as a Database Administration Intern, you need a foundational understanding of database concepts, SQL, and data modeling, typically gained through coursework in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with database management systems like MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server and exposure to tools such as phpMyAdmin or SQL Developer are often required. Many internships provide opportunities to work closely with development and IT teams, allowing you to see how database management fits into larger projects and gain exposure to industry-standard tools and best practices.
