Job Summary:
Milwaukee Tool is a company dedicated to innovation and employee growth. They are seeking a Metrology Data, Systems, and Automation Engineer to modernize metrology operations by enhancing measurement data processes and serving as a technical liaison across various teams.
Responsibilities:
• Research, evaluate, and recommend metrology hardware, inspection software, automation tools, AI-enabled solutions, data platforms, and digital reporting technologies.
• Lead feasibility studies, benchmarking, implementation planning, testing criteria, documentation, training, and change management for new metrology applications and workflows.
• Design and implement software-based solutions that improve metrology data flow, reporting speed, traceability, usability, and integration with enterprise systems.
• Develop scripts, tools, automated workflows, low-code solutions, AI agents, bots, dashboards, or standardized templates for data extraction, transformation, report generation, workflow automation, and performance tracking.
• Serve as the primary technical link between Metrology Engineering and IT for software tools, system integrations, database connectivity, permissions, cybersecurity, licensing, file architecture, and digital infrastructure.
• Translate metrology, quality, manufacturing, and engineering workflow needs into clear business and technical requirements while aligning operational needs with scalable, supportable solutions.
• Drive standardization of metrology software workflows, naming structures, file organization, data storage methods, reporting practices, and digital lifecycle control.
• Support continuous improvement projects that improve metrology efficiency, quality system compliance, reporting consistency, and digital transformation.
• Collaborate with global and regional teams to share best practices, support user adoption, and build repeatable solutions that can scale across laboratories, suppliers, and manufacturing environments.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Quality, or a related technical field; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
• 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: metrology, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, inspection technology, software applications, data analytics, automation, systems integration, technical support, or related technical work.
• Exposure to metrology, inspection, quality, manufacturing, or engineering systems such as CMMs, vision systems, optical scanners, laser scanners, CT/X-ray, gages, test equipment, CAD-based inspection, or related technologies.
• Hands-on experience improving data handling, reporting, automation, scripting, programming, dashboards, databases, or workflow tools in an engineering, quality, manufacturing, lab, or technical business environment.
• Interest in or experience with AI, AI agents, bots, low-code tools, or workflow automation used to improve data handling, reporting, troubleshooting, user support, or process efficiency.
• Working knowledge of one or more tools such as Python, VBA, SQL, Excel automation, SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, APIs, database tools, reporting platforms, or similar automation and data solutions.
• Ability to understand technical workflows, structure data, document processes, troubleshoot issues, and communicate information clearly to both technical and non-technical users.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organization, collaboration, project coordination, and continuous improvement skills.
Preferred:
• Familiarity with metrology or inspection software such as PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, Zeiss Inspect, Calypso, Geomagic, DataLoop, or similar platforms.
• Experience integrating data across metrology platforms, lab systems, quality systems, manufacturing systems, enterprise tools, databases, APIs, cloud services, or IT-supported software environments.
• Experience applying AI-enabled tools, copilots, agents, bots, or low-code automation to engineering, quality, lab, or manufacturing workflows.
• Experience with CAD-based inspection workflows, GD&T interpretation, measurement validation, MSA, Gage R&R, capability studies, or quality management system requirements.
• Background supporting digital transformation, automated reporting, dashboard development, software implementation, user training, technical documentation, or systems integration projects in a lab, engineering, quality, manufacturing, or supplier environment.
