Job description

Early Careers: PSP Data & Analytics Associate

Are you curious about the Insurance industry? Interested in working with a team of experts who are generous with sharing their knowledge, and joining an industry leading, highly inclusive organization? This could be the perfect opportunity for you!

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Montreal office.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship, and we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa or work permit.

Aon is in the business of better decisions

At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.

As an organization, we are united through trust as one inclusive team and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.

What the day will look like

  • Maintaining and enhancing our inhouse applications built with C#, .NET and SQL Server, including adding new features, improving usability, and solve bugs raised by users.
  • Fulfilling adhoc data requests from colleagues by extracting, validating and formatting information from our systems for business, operational and reporting needs.
  • Building and supporting automation solutions (mail merge, Excel macros, C# utilities, Access queries, SQL scripts) that streamline office workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Acting as a liaison between business users and Aon IT, helping to translate user requirements into technical requests (e.g., application changes, folder or network access, permission updates).
  • Partnering with Aon IT teams to coordinate and test system upgrades, patches and infrastructure changes, ensuring our applications remain stable and available with minimal downtime.
  • Developing and maintaining business reports (for example, attendance and other key performance or operational reports) using tools such as Crystal Reports, Excel and SQL.
  • Documenting changes, processes and user guides to support knowledge transfer and provide clear references for both technical teams and nontechnical users.
  • Participating in regular team meetings to discuss priorities, review upcoming work, and contribute ideas for improving our systems and processes.

How this opportunity is different

This role provides an opportunity to observe the full lifecycle of internal tools and applications, from understanding enduser needs through composing, build, testing, deployment and ongoing support. You will have direct contact with business users, giving you a clear view of how your work improves efficiency and supports critical daytoday operations. You will be working for a business unit supporting high profile clients in the professional services industries, operating in multiple insurance markets (US, UK, Bermuda, Canada) and will have the chance to interact with people from all those locations.

We are a small team, you will gain broad, handson experience across application development, data/reporting, automation and basic infrastructure coordination rather than being limited to a narrow specialization. You will work closely with experienced colleagues in both the business and Aon IT, with opportunities for mentorship, onthejob learning and exposure to enterprisegrade tools and environments.

The systems you support are important to our business; you will quickly see the impact of your work and be encouraged to propose and implement improvements.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Software engineering, Computer science, Programming specialization, Information technology specialization, Systems Administration, or a relevant field;
  • Experience with C# and WPF using Visual Studio (academic, internship, or professional);
  • Understanding of objectoriented programming and development protocols;
  • Solid understanding of SQL, preferably Microsoft SQL Server (basic queries, joins, simple stored procedures);
  • Experience with Microsoft Access for database queries, table design, and relationships
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for basic web pages and user interfaces
  • Strong Excel skills (formulas, functions, sorting/filtering)
  • Experience integrating with Microsoft Office applications programmatically is an asset
  • Basic understanding of SharePoint
  • Experience with Kentico or Sitecore is an asset
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written;
  • French / English bilingualism required due to frequent interactions with clients, colleagues, or partners based in Quebec, other Canadian provinces and/or internationally.
