Job Description
The purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate, promote, administer, facilitate, and evaluate a full range of activities related to Leadership Training and Leadership Development. It is essential that the person in this position has the ability to provide outstanding customer service to elected and appointed city and county officials statewide and their staff, community members, and leaders in state government. The preferred workstation for this position is Nashville.
Applicants for this position will be considered by demonstrating the ability to independently perform program services in a broad area of specialization; oversee multiple training programs; design curricula and content; commit resources; and provide guidance to designated personnel and key customers.
Responsibilities
Program Planning and Delivery (50%)
• Travel across the state setting up training classes and events, preparing materials, registering participants both on-line and on-site, and assisting in the delivery of leadership programs and activities
• Serve as a point of contact at conferences and training events; Answers questions about the center's various programs and learning opportunities
• Schedule activities and coordinate all logistical aspects for on-site and virtual events, including but not limited to hotel reservations, catering, and transportation for training groups
• Support training facilitators, manage class registrations, administer and grade pre/post-tests when applicable, and manage program evaluations
• Create, track and process participant invoices and payments
Curriculum and Training Design (10%)
• Organize existing curriculum so that it meets CEU and/or CPE approval standards
• Modify and update curriculum on an ongoing basis
• Design and plan training calendars, brochures, and announcements for programs
• Design survey templates to collect participant registration information, contact information and evaluation data
Program Maintenance, Logistics and Supervision (20%)
• Utilize and maintain internal databases
• Maintain and update website content and coordinate social media activities
• Provide first-line support to customers
• Revise and modify program evaluations
• Initiate and negotiate agreements with facilitators, consultants, and third-party vendors
Client Contacts, Needs Assessments and Program Evaluations (10%)
• Consult with clients on training needs
• Speak on behalf of leadership programs as needed
• Determine training needs for current and future leadership programs
• Evaluate leadership programs and provide updates
Special Projects and Agency Objectives (10%)
• Assist in development of marketing brochures and training materials
• Assist in the development/delivery of new initiatives and special projects
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, social sciences, adult learning, human resource development, adult education, logistics and planning, hospitality or a related field is required.

Experience:
  • At least 3 years of work experience with an appropriate combination of planning, coordinating, and/or delivering training programs, instructional design and providing technical assistance or consulting to customers or other professional stakeholder groups.
  • Prior training and/or coordination experience working with local and state government employees strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Effective writing, speaking, decision-making and organizational skills are a must for this position.
  • The ability to relate and provide superb customer service to a broad range of clients is necessary.
  • Knowledge and experience in the usage of MS Windows applications, including Microsoft Office products, email, and Internet-based applications etc. are required.
  • Additionally, experience with social media and blast email systems is preferred.
  • The successful candidate must be flexible and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • The successful candidate must be able to travel to various sites across the state to assist with training and programmatic events. Establishing and maintaining positive, long-term working relationships with local and state government officials is a critical aspect of this position.
  • This position requires a highly self-motivated individual who is able to work with and without direct supervision.
  • Public speaking skills are necessary
