OVERVIEW
The Operations Assistant is primarily responsible for supporting operations and purchasing materials, components, equipment, supplies, and services that meet the quality standards of the manufacturing company. This role is responsible for planning requirements and supply chain management to ensure timely (scheduled) deliveries of goods and services within budget and/or standard costs. This role Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor and purchase materials, components, equipment, supplies, and services necessary for the day-to-day operations of the plant.
  • Set up suppliers and maintain finished goods and raw materials data in the tracking system.
  • Determine material requirements from engineering, sales and production order requirements. Coordinate the efficient movement of materials through production orders.
  • Evaluate cost consistently with the standard cost.
  • Daily Data entry of Purchase Orders and invoices received by email from the production dept.
  • Work with Receiving, Accounting, and suppliers to reconcile discrepancies in receiving and invoicing.
  • Develop, implement, and support sourcing and supplier management initiatives.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery, lead time, etc., with suppliers and inter-company.
  • Exercise a working knowledge of goods, services, and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements.
  • Write up suggested selling prices and submit to sales for approval.
  • Support customer service, sales, warehouse, and accounting departments in day-to-day operations.
  • Manage and conduct cycle counts and annual physical inventory counts. Working with all departments, including international HQ and 3rd party auditors.
  • Manage and distribute the annual Price List.
  • Compose and produce Sales Reports from SAP Queries.
  • Working with International freight forwarders in the management and cost of air and ocean freight.
  • Perform other duties/special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • 5+ years of material buying and planning in a distribution environment.
  • Previous experience in a Medical Manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Experience in supply chain management and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, and Project)
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be organized and able to multitask multiple priorities appropriately.
  • Logical thinking with creative problem-solving ability.
  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated, reliable, and diligent.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 4-year college degree (Bachelors) in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or equivalent.
  • CPM Certification a plus.
  • Lean Certification a plus.
