Salary: $93,925.00- $150,037.00

SUMMARY

The IT Network Manager is a player/coach who is primarily responsible for leading a team in the design, development and implementation of the Information Technology (IT) firewall, data network and integration with voice and video. The IT Network Manager has good knowledge of IT infrastructure in general (including physical and cloud) and extensive knowledge in the design and building of data networks and configuration of the applicable network devices.  This person is expected to be hands on, consult and provide support to other system engineers in support of all IT projects. This role includes capacity planning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and disaster backup of local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) data communications.
 

On-site role in: Buffalo or Schenectady

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for configuration, management and support/maintenance of all network devices in the infrastructure.
Develop procedures and processes for more junior staff and other systems administrators to be able to perform routine tasks.
Responsible for building secure, sustainable, and resilient networks. 
Lead projects in a highly heterogeneous environment with a wide variety of hardware and software platforms.
Provides expertise in all areas of networking including tuning, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, deployments, support, documentation of standards and procedures for the administration and maintenance of all supported environments. 
Lead other network engineers in the modernization and consolidation efforts for a widely distributed enterprise WAN leveraging MPLS and SDWAN technologies.
Network security enforcement and maintenance.
Monitoring of networks for availability and security.
Troubleshooting network issues; ensuring we have the right tools for visibility at all network layers
Installation of new networking equipment.
Network device, asset lifecycle management
Administer IDS/IPS, firewalls, VPN, and network monitoring tools.
Review existing internetwork design; define requirements and capacity to support growth of LAN/WAN communications.
Perform analysis needed to size network equipment, including setup, configuration, testing, and ongoing support of latest generation switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
Participate in evaluating and recommending network management and diagnostic tools to proactively support and resolve network related issues.
Track and create reports on network reliability and performance metrics to assist in planning for LAN/WAN growth and expansion.
Develop backup and recovery processes for LAN/WAN hardware and software.
Project planning and system implementations involving LAN/WAN communications along with the integration of voice and video.
Provides activity and progress reports on projects for assigned projects. 
Perform other related duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Expert in internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey information both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-starter who can lead and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong project management and general business skills, including ability to identify and plan for cross-functional impact of work. 
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and high standards of accuracy, attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills.
  • Excellent teaming skills and proven ability to work effectively across multiple teams and functional areas. 
  • Ability to coordinate work efforts of teammates as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years in Networking, Network Infrastructure planning and design, at least 3 years experience in Cisco based (voice & data) networks required. Cisco certification, preferred (such as CCNP, CCDP, CCIE)
  • 3+ years leading/supervising teams, including managed service providers, in implementing and administering network solutions.
  • Experience in Network security, Wireless, traffic analysis, and Firewalls.
  • Telecom Experience, including POTS, VoIP, etc.
  • Experience implementing and configuring fiber channel-based storage area networks.
  • Experience using network taps for instrumentation and network monitoring.
  • Networking experience for retail facilities including stores, fuel stations, distribution centers and offices, preferred
  • Experience designing and building data networks, including hybrid network extension to support cloud connectivity (GCP, Azure)
