Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a full-time Metrics Analyst to support a high-visibility federal client. The Metrics Analyst provides analytical, programmatic, and strategic communications support by developing and applying performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communications and outreach initiatives. This role supports data-driven decision making by analyzing engagement, audience feedback, and performance indicators across digital platforms, media outreach, and stakeholder engagement activities.

The Metrics Analyst role requires a self-starter, analytical thinker, and action-oriented team player with experience developing performance metrics for science-focused organizations. This position requires an individual who can synthesize complex data, identify meaningful insights, and translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations that strengthen communications strategies.

In this role, the Metrics Analyst will collect, analyze, and interpret performance data related to communications campaigns, digital engagement, media outreach, and stakeholder interactions. The individual will collaborate closely with communications teams, writers, digital media specialists, and leadership to evaluate campaign effectiveness, refine communication strategies, and ensure metrics inform future communications planning and outreach activities.

This is a contingent hire position.

This position is located in the Washington, DC metro area. Some onsite work or travel to the client site for meetings is expected.

The expected compensation at the time of requisition creation, is between $110,000 and $115,000.00.ย  The position offers with medical, dental and vision coverage.ย  Additional benefits such as 401K, disability insurance and PTO are provided as well

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop communications strategies and products aligned with organizational priorities and mission objectives.
  • Assist in creating audience-specific communication and engagement plans that incorporate performance metrics.
  • Collect, track, and analyze data related to communications campaigns, events, media coverage, digital engagement, and stakeholder outreach activities.
  • Evaluate communications campaigns and outreach efforts using audience feedback and performance measures.
  • Develop and maintain metrics frameworks to measure the effectiveness of communication plans and initiatives.
  • Analyze campaign performance, engagement metrics, and audience data to assess impact and return on investment (ROI) for outreach initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and visualizations that summarize key performance indicators, trends, and insights.
  • Draft clear and concise analytical reports that communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and program staff.
  • Identify performance trends and recommend improvements to communications strategies and engagement approaches.
  • Collaborate with communications staff, writers, and digital media teams to ensure metrics inform campaign design and content strategy.
  • Maintain awareness of best practices in digital analytics, media monitoring, and communications performance evaluation.
  • Support ongoing evaluation of digital engagement policies, processes, and procedures and recommend improvements where appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience developing communication strategies and products for science-focused organizations.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience developing metrics for communication plans and analyzing impact and ROI for outreach activities for science-focused organizations.
  • Experience evaluating and refining communications campaigns using audience feedback and performance measures.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, data analytics, statistics, public policy, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience collecting, tracking, and analyzing performance data across digital platforms and communications campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets and translate findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Experience preparing analytical reports, dashboards, and data visualizations for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond effectively to changing priorities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
