Job description

MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE
WORK LOCATION - 100% ONSITE - ARLINGTON, VA

Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed Data Architect to support a critical government client in Arlington, VA. This role requires an active Secret Security Clearance and focuses on advancing data strategy, governance, and Shared Situational Awareness across Department of War (DoW), Army, and Air Force operating environments.

The Data Architect serves as a technical expert for enterprise data dictionaries, catalogs, and ontologies. You will guide the design and interface of modern information systems, manipulating and mapping data streams to improve interoperability and usability across multi-domain platforms.

A significant portion of this role involves authoring technical whitepapers, developing DoW-compliant policy, and generating architecture artifacts to guide senior leadership and action officers through complex modernization initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define enterprise data architecture reference models, integration patterns, data standards, and DoDAF products
  • Review and adjudicate enterprise data models, schemas, data flows, and modernization roadmaps
  • Establish enterprise performance metrics, cataloging/taxonomy standards, and data lineage processes
  • Lead data governance boards to drive continuous improvement
  • Partner with system, application, cloud, and security teams to validate pipelines, ingestion, and interfaces
  • Identify and map data inputs leveraging existing and modern sources
  • Provide strategic IT and data guidance to senior government leaders and action officers
  • Research and draft technical policy, whitepapers, and executive briefings

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferred.
  • 5+ years progressive experience in data management, data analytics, data science, or enterprise data architecture
  • Math and computer science proficiency
  • Proven experience working within the Department of War, Army, Air Force, or other joint-agency environments
  • Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance
  • Experience working with enterprise data platforms such as Advana, Vantage, Envision, or Maven Smart System
  • Proficiency in structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex data concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong leadership capability to guide cross-functional teams and manage projects under minimal supervision
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and client-relationship management skills
