Purpose:

The EIC supports the day to day productions going on in the NEP South Florida facility ensuring that all the services provided are performed accurately and to customer expectations. This role will build and maintain the infrastructure needed to support a wide range of streaming solutions both within the team and externally; while working closely with other NEP departments to evangelize best practices through documentation, tutorials, training and complete implementations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • This role will focus on the engineering, operations, deployment, troubleshooting, organization, and technical communication of all NEPSF infrastructure rollout.
  • This position will deliver numerous high-profile milestones as required by the business under supervision and support including maintaining and managing infrastructure/services, rolling out new encode solutions, delivering live streams at the highest reliability and confidence, as well as working to approve efficiency for existing workflows.
  • Understanding of IP Communications systems, Unity, Green Go, RTS and 4 wire interfaces.
  • Experience with streaming protocols (RTMP, HDS, HLS, DASH, SRT), knowledge of encoding protocols (AAC, H.264, H.265)
  • An understanding of end-to-end video delivery on various clients.
  • A good understanding of 2110 and whats involved in an IP infrastructure including Gateways and Nodes.
  • Work closely with engineering team and the director in all production related support including communications system and external transmissions system involving baseband and IP.
  • Understand the clients transmission requirements and workflows. I strong Understanding of Switchers and from GVG to Ross Video systems, Graphics such as Xpression,Vizrt, SMT, Chyron.
  • Automate new deployments using available systems such as AWS, Harmonics, Net insight, LiveU and internal encoding systems.
  • Locally and remotely deploy troubleshoot systems across the country when required.
  • Support for our operations and production teams including after hours on call.
  • Manage highly reliable systems intended for on-air environments.
  • Execute scripts and utilities to automate data collection for analysis.
  • Build monitoring systems and tools.
  • Collaboratively work to standardize cutting-edge large-scale streaming technologies.
  • Setup and maintenance of such systems including on-air Video and audio transmissions.
  • DANTE and MADI and AES67 knowledge base experience.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of streaming media protocols: HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), DASH, CMAF, RTMP, etc.
  • Experience in developing/deploying media streaming services in the cloud.
  • Knowledge of media codecs, formats, transports, and container protocols, such as MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, AAC, AC3, MP4, TS, etc.
  • Understanding of CDN architectures (caches, origin servers, proxies, etc.).
  • Experience working with Closed Captioning standards, DRM, and related technologies.
  • Schedule flexibility with the ability to work late nights, weekends, and holidays. Weekends required.
