Job description

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a Data Strategist to identify, evaluate, and acquire differentiated datasets that support quantitative research and systematic trading. 

The role requires strong judgment around data sources, use cases, and sourcing channels, as well as a deep understanding of provider and industry ecosystems.You will work closely with vendors, brokers, exchanges, and other counterparties to uncover useful datasets, assess their relevance, and drive commercial discussions. The ideal candidate is highly curious, commercially minded, and excited by the opportunity to discover new sources of value across both established and less obvious channels. 

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and acquire differentiated datasets from vendors, brokers, exchanges, and other counterparties
  • Proactively hunt for new data sources, relationships, and content that may create value
  • Build and develop a network of relationships with data providers and other market participants
  • Lead commercial discussions and data agreement negotiations
  • Collaborate with research and technology teams to assess dataset fit and value
  • Drive ongoing data sourcing initiatives in priority domains, developing expertise in providers, use cases, gaps, and opportunities

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in data sourcing, market data, broker data, quantitative research data, vendor management, or a related role
  • Strong understanding of data sources, dataset evaluation, and how data can be used in a quantitative research or systematic trading context
  • Experience working with external counterparties and internal research, legal, business, and technology teams
  • Meticulously detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Strong data analysis skills, including proficiency with Python, SQL, or similar tools is a plus

The estimated base salary range for this position is $150,000 - 250,000 per year, based on job-related skills and experience. This role will also be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses and a competitive benefits package.
