AIMCo is seeking a highly technical Senior Accountant/Analyst, Investment Finance Fund Accounting (IFFA) to join our Investment Finance team. This role is ideal for a strong accounting professional who combines deep financial expertise with advanced data analysis capabilities and thrives working with large, complex datasets and investment accounting systems.
Our Investment Finance Fund Accounting Department performs highly specialized fund accounting activities across AIMCo's multi-layered portfolios, ensuring client accounting fairness is maintained at all times. We oversee daily unit trades and execute in-kind asset transfers within AIMCo's investment pool structure to ensure AIMCo's AUM is accurately accounted for at all portfolio levels. Deeply rooted in accounting and data analytics, we manage accounting policies and improve the integrity of accounting and NAV data within our systems. AIMCo clients rely on our monthly accounting reporting and data insights to support their own financial reporting and decision making.
The Senior Accountant/Analyst, Investment Finance Fund Accounting will assist in validating investment holdings, accounting entries, and information across multiple platforms including the investment accounting system, investment general ledger, data warehouse, and reporting environments. Success in this role requires strong technical accounting expertise, advanced financial analysis skills, exceptional attention to detail, and hands-on experience with tools such as SQL, Power BI, Databricks, SimCorp Dimension, and advanced Excel.

What You Will Do

  • Validate investment holdings, accounting entries, and financial information across the investment accounting system, investment general ledger, and investment data environments.

  • Execute and support complex accounting activities including asset transfers, backdated transactions, client fairness adjustments, impairments, book corrections, and journal entries.

  • Oversee daily investment pool certificate transactions, portfolio structure changes, and client ownership updates while ensuring client accounting fairness.

  • Investigate, resolve, and prevent accounting, data quality, and reporting issues.

  • Drive process automation and efficiency improvements through the use of data analytics and reporting tools.

  • Develop and enhance reporting processes, dashboards, and controls using Power BI and other analytical tools.

  • Participate in change management initiatives, system testing, and sign-off activities related to accounting system enhancements.

  • Analyze large datasets to identify issues, validate results, and support business decision-making.

  • Support internal and external audit requests and respond to accounting and financial inquiries from stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with business partners across Finance, Investments, Operations, and Technology to ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting and investment data.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a technically strong accounting professional who combines exceptional analytical capabilities with a passion for solving complex financial and data challenges.

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.

  • CPA designation required.

  • 3+ years of relevant experience within the financial services or investment management industry.

  • Strong understanding of finance, accounting, investment operations, and business concepts.

  • Advanced Excel skills with demonstrated expertise working with large and complex datasets.

  • Strong experience in financial and data analysis.

  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Power BI, Databricks, and other data analytics tools.

  • Experience working with SimCorp Dimension (SCD) is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of capital markets, investment instruments, and quantitative analysis.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proven track record of independently researching and resolving issues.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and stakeholders.

  • Experience with Power Query, Python, Snowflake, or similar analytical tools is considered an asset.

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo's core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration.
