We are currently seeking a Compliance Intern to join our Market & Trading Compliance team for a full-time 12-month term. This roleprovides a unique opportunity for a recent graduateto gain hands-on experience supporting compliance activities in wholesale power markets across North America.
Working alongside experienced compliance professionals, traders, and cross-functional teams, the intern will develop a practical understanding of regulatory frameworks governing energy trading, including market conduct rules, reporting obligations, and internal compliance programs.

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Supporting the monitoring of trading activities andassistinginidentifyingpotential compliance risks across physical and financial power markets.

  • Supporting special projects and initiatives related to the development of the internal compliance program.

  • Assistingwith regulatory research and communicating the developments from key regulatory bodies.

  • Contributing to the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of compliance policies, procedures, and controls.

  • Assistingin the preparation of internal reports, documentation, and audit materials.

  • Supporting compliance training efforts, including preparing materials and coordinating learning sessions.

  • Collaborating with stakeholders across Trading, Risk, Legal, and Operations.

  • Assistingin data analysis and validation to support trade surveillance and reporting activities.

What you will bring to the role:

Education:

  • Bachelor'sDegree inBusiness, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Energy Management, Law, Public Policy, or Regulatory Studies.

  • Recent graduate or graduating within the last year.

  • Education equivalency may be considered.

Experience:

  • Prior internship, co-op, or academic experience in compliance, risk management, energy markets, finance, or regulatory environments is an asset.

  • Exposure to wholesale electricity or natural gas markets is considered an advantage.

  • Experience with data analysis, research, or policy development is beneficial.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint).

  • Experience with Power BI, Python, or SQL is an asset.

  • Ability to conduct regulatory research and synthesize complex information.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
