UnitedHealthcare is seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst II to join our Consumer Operations Vital and Experience Hub (COVE). COVE monitors member experience, provider experience, and core operational experiences, with a focus on early detection and resolution of issues and data driven decision making across multiple lines of business. 

As a Data Analyst II, you will be responsible for building and refining tools to analyze complex operational data, generate actionable insights, and contribute to advanced analytics solutions, including AI/ML enabled use cases, in support of multiple lines of business and shared services organizations.

This position is hybrid, with a minimum of 4 days per week in office at the 9700 Building in Minnetonka, MN.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the full analytics and data solution lifecycle, including research, proof of concepts, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance
  • Analyze operational and experience data to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and experience enhancement across consumer, provider, and core operations
  • Work with diverse data sources including NPS trends, consumer and provider verbatims, digital portal interactions, and critical operational metrics
  • Collaborate with cross functional partners to define business problems and develop analytic solutions
  • Perform as an individual contributor by querying and integrating data from multiple sources, wrangling datasets, and building dashboards and analyses that surface insights and opportunities
  • Apply data storytelling techniques to clearly communicate findings to technical and non technical audiences
  • Anticipate stakeholder needs by engaging in creative problem solving and ideation to bring new, relevant analytic content to Operations
  • Contribute to team and organizational growth through knowledge sharing, collaboration, mentorship, and continuous self development

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in a highly quantitative field such as analytics, statistics, or computer science
  • 2 years of hands on experience in data analysis, data driven investigations, data visualization, and insight generation for operational or leadership audiences
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL
  • Advanced experience building analytics solutions using business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent
  • Intermediate to advanced experience working with large scale datasets, including terabyte level data
  • Demonstrated experience performing statistical analysis and presenting results to non technical audiences
  • Experience extracting and integrating data from Enterprise Data Warehouses and Enterprise Data Lakes
  • Experience with cloud based analytic services such as Snowflake or DataBricks
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office tools
  • Must live in the state of Minnesota and be able to work in the Minnetonka, MN office 4 days a week & 1 remote day

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Python or other analytical programming languages
  • Solid theoretical and practical knowledge of machine learning or artificial intelligence algorithms and techniques applied to analytics use cases
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations to varying levels of leadership
  • Healthcare or health insurance industry experience
  • Solid problem solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend data supported improvements
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment while managing multiple priorities

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
