Feel empowered to learn and grow while being valued for who you are. At Intact, we commit to supporting you in reaching your goals with tools, opportunities, and flexibility. It’s our promise to you.

Who we are

At Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions, we are experts at what we do in protecting what makes businesses unique. Our deep understanding of the specialty insurance market is the foundation for our customized solutions, backed by targeted risk control and claims services. Our employees are passionate about providing insurance coverage that’s aligned to our targeted customer groups.

Intact’s Global Specialty Lines business spans across more than 20 verticals in four distinct markets: U.S., Canada, UK and Europe. The following opportunity is for our U.S. team.

The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Claim Consultant to join our Life Sciences or Cyber/Technology E&O team based in our New York City, NY; Chicago, IL; Plymouth, MN, Boston, MA; Canton, MA; Englewood, CO or Irvine, CA office on a hybrid schedule. We are seeking a highly experienced specialty claims professional capable of independently managing complex, high-exposure claims with limited supervision. This role requires a trusted technical resource who can investigate, evaluate, resolve, and strategically manage sophisticated claims while providing thoughtful coverage analysis and business-oriented recommendations. Some of the Claim Consultant responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Candidate Profile A – Life Sciences

A senior claims professional with significant experience handling complex pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, healthcare, and life sciences claims, including:

  • Significant bodily injury, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death claims.
  • Product liability litigation involving pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostic, and other life sciences products.
  • Matters involving multiple defendants, complex causation issues, and high-exposure litigation.
  • In addition to product liability experience, the ideal candidate will possess substantial experience handling Life Sciences Errors & Omissions and Professional Liability claims, including:
  • Contract Research Organization (CRO) professional liability claims.
  • Clinical trial-related claims and allegations arising from clinical research activities.
  • Claims involving protocol development, trial administration, data management, regulatory compliance, site selection, and monitoring activities.
  • Professional liability claims involving contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs), contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs), laboratories, testing facilities, consultants, and other life sciences service providers.
  • Claims involving alleged errors, omissions, negligent professional services, and failures to perform pursuant to contractual or regulatory obligations.

The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of Life Sciences E&O coverage and be capable of independently evaluating complex professional liability exposures that frequently arise within the life sciences industry. This includes the ability to analyze coverage issues, evaluate liability and damages, identify key coverage defenses, and formulate well-supported coverage positions under specialty life sciences insurance policies.

Special consideration will be given to candidates who have personally litigated life sciences matters as attorneys and possess firsthand experience developing litigation strategy, managing scientific and expert evidence, conducting depositions, participating in trial preparation, and evaluating product liability and professional liability exposures from both the litigation and insurance claims perspectives.

    Candidate Profile B – Cyber & Technology E&O

Significant experience handling primary cyber liability and Technology Errors & Omissions claims, including ransomware, privacy, network security, regulatory investigations, technology implementation failures, professional services disputes, and other high-exposure technology claims. Strong familiarity with the cyber insurance marketplace and key industry participants is preferred.

The ideal candidate will possess substantial Technology Errors & Omissions claims experience and a deep understanding of E&O coverage, including the ability to analyze complex professional liability exposures, contractual liability issues, performance disputes, and technology-related loss scenarios. The candidate must be capable of independently evaluating coverage issues, formulating coverage positions, and clearly articulating those positions both verbally and in writing to insureds, brokers, underwriters, defense counsel, and senior management.

The successful candidate will also have significant experience working with outside coverage counsel, including directing coverage investigations, evaluating coverage opinions, developing coverage strategy, and managing complex or contested coverage matters through resolution. Experience drafting and reviewing reservation of rights letters, coverage position letters, excess position letters, and declination letters is required.

    • Manage experts, consultants and vendors
    • Evaluate pleadings, motions, expert reports and mediation positions
