Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

LOCATION: WNY, Washington, DC

JOB STATUS: Full-time

CLEARANCE: Secret

SALARY RANGE: Estimated $120,000 - $150,000 USD annually*

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior-Level Cybersecurity Engineer located at the Program Executive Office of Integrated Warfare Systems Contract in Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC. Astrion has worked extensively Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems Engineering Support Services (PEO IWS ESS) Cyber Contract where it has earned a reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality cyber support tailored to the needs of its clients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 

  • Active DoD SECRET Clearance
  • Cybersecurity and computer networking skills are highly desired along with basic competency with MS Office and technical writing.
  • Knowledge of DoD and DON cyber policies and procedures and/or NIST 800-53, DoDI 8500.01, and DoDI 8510.01.
  • Must be flexible in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, competing priorities, and unpredictable events.
  • Ideal candidate has demonstrated ability to assign work and manage personnel and tasks.
  • Familiar with and able to present data and recommendations to Government and Military leadership.
  • Thorough, detail oriented, and organized, with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and independent thinker with out-of-the-box ideas.
  • Leadership skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide Engineering Support Services (ESS) to NAVSEA PEO IWS Cyber Leads.
  • Work both off-site in contractor spaces and on-site at the Washington Navy Yard.
  • Design and coordinate the implementation of cybersecurity solutions on surface combat systems.
  • Experience planning, researching and developing security policies, standards and procedures.
  • Serve as liaison between Program Office and internal/external stakeholders
  • Manage the development and integration of cyber capabilities onto surface warfare combat systems.
  • Conduct independent technical assessments of cybersecurity evaluation results and test reports to inform system upgrade recommendations.
  • Develop briefs on cybersecurity, system development, emergent cyber issues, and schedule risks to convey critical information to Navy Leadership (Civilian, Military, etc.)
  • Facilitate working groups on cyber activities within the combat system.
  • Provide inputs and present statuses regularly to Navy Leadership, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), etc.
  • Oversee end-to-end funding operations, gather and analyze requirements for upcoming fiscal years, refine tasking to align with strategic objectives, and input data into financial platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Must have an active DoD SECRET security clearance and must be able to maintain one.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Technical IT and cyber security background.
  • Knowledge of DoD and DON cyber policies and procedures and/or NIST 800-53, DoDI 8500.01, and DoDI 8510.01.
  • A high school degree, or a GED, and more than twenty (20) years of relevant experience in cyber security, information system management, software development, design or authorization OR
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in cyber security, information system management, software development, design or authorization OR
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field and ten (10) years of relevant experience in cyber security, information system management, software development, design or authorization.

At least one or more of the following is preferred:

  • A+
  • Sec+
  • CAP
  • IAM
  • CISSP
  • CEH

Desired:

  • Knowledge of PEO IWS Instruction 5239.1.
  • Familiarity with PEO IWS organization and systems.
