Position Summary:

Laser Cutting Machine Operator / Setup Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, and programming of and laser cutting machines.


Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation & Setup

Set up and operate laser cutting machines (fiber and/or CO2) to produce high-precision components.

Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.

Perform routine maintenance and ensure machines are operating safely and efficiently.

Programming

Develop and optimize laser cutting manual programs using G codes and/or CAD/CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam).

Adjust cutting parameters based on material type and thickness to ensure quality and minimize waste.

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure that tooling meets safety and performance standards.

Support initiatives to improve workflow and reduce manual labor.

Quality Assurance

Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).

Ensure all components meet dimensional and surface finish specifications.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate records of machine settings, programs, and maintenance activities.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback on process enhancements.

Requirements

 Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or mechatronics preferred.

Minimum 3 years of experience operating and programming laser cutting machines.

Proficiency in CAD/CAM software.

Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and materials.

Work Environment:

Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking processes.
