Job description

Description:

Perform set-up, adjustment and safe operation of cutting equipment. Prepare product to be packed, collated or bound, ensuring that all items produced meet customer specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set-up and adjust cutter machine in accordance with instructions and job requirements
  • Set-up automatic cutting programs manually into cutter machine
  • Operate cutter machine and ancillary equipment to cut material into desired dimensions
  • Evaluate and make decisions concerning quality of product while cutting
  • Review job tickets and plan work processes to meet customer specifications
  • Keep accurate press sheet information with dates and counts
  • Monitor assigned machine during runs to ensure adherence to specifications and make adjustments as needed
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as blade replacement, lubrication, and waxing
  • Notify supervision of mechanical/electrical problems and complete “Work Orders” for parts/repairs that require maintenance assistance
  • Prepare load flags on each outgoing load showing the next operation or destination
  • All other duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 1 - 3 years of previous cutting experience preferred
  • Full comprehension in reading work instructions and business memos
  • Effective communications skills with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to use basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements and critical thinking, to solve practical problems
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to prevent errors and solve problems on all prepress machines
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in stressful situations and meet stringent deadlines
  • Be organized and able to plan, prioritize and follow through on projects assigned with minimal supervision
  • Zund operating experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of working on different cutting machines (specifically some working knowledge of Konsgberg XP table) is preferred

  • Requires working around and operating departmental equipment
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility
