Job description

Relationship Manager, Asset Manager Solutions

At SMArtX Advisory Solutions, our Manager Solutions team serves as the bridge between the investment management community and one of the industry’s leading managed accounts platforms—helping asset managers successfully launch, maintain, and grow their presence within the SMArtX ecosystem.

We’re looking for a Relationship Manager, Asset Manager Solutions to serve as a trusted advisor to approximately 75 asset managers. This role is responsible for helping firms navigate every aspect of their relationship with SMArtX—from contracting and onboarding to platform education, operational support, strategy expansion, and long-term partnership growth.

This is a highly consultative role that blends relationship management, project management, operational coordination, and platform expertise. The ideal candidate enjoys building strong client relationships, educating partners, simplifying complex processes, and delivering an exceptional white-glove experience.

Position Overview

As a Relationship Manager, Asset Manager Solutions, you’ll serve as the primary relationship owner for a portfolio of approximately 75 asset managers, guiding firms through every phase of their lifecycle on the SMArtX platform.

From the moment an agreement is signed, you’ll coordinate onboarding, manage implementation timelines, educate partners on SMArtX’s platform capabilities and operational processes, and serve as a trusted resource as they establish and grow their business on the platform.

You’ll work closely with Legal, Compliance, Finance, Operations, Product, Technology, and Client Success to coordinate deliverables, resolve roadblocks, and ensure each asset manager has a successful experience with SMArtX.

Success in this role goes beyond completing onboarding projects. It means helping asset managers understand how to maximize the value of the SMArtX platform while positioning their firms for long-term success.

What You’ll Do

Serve as a Trusted Advisor to Asset Managers

  • Own and manage a portfolio of approximately 75 asset manager relationships.
  • Serve as each firm’s primary point of contact for onboarding and ongoing strategic initiatives.
  • Build trusted relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and a consultative approach.
  • Help asset managers understand not only how the SMArtX platform works, but how to successfully operate and grow within the SMArtX ecosystem.
  • Establish regular touchpoints to monitor progress, answer questions, provide guidance, and identify opportunities for continued engagement.
  • Develop a strong understanding of each manager’s business, investment strategies, and objectives to provide thoughtful and relevant support.

Lead Asset Manager Onboarding & Platform Adoption

  • Manage the complete asset manager onboarding experience from executed agreement through successful platform launch.
  • Develop and manage onboarding and implementation timelines across Legal, Compliance, Finance, Operations, Product, Technology, and Client Success.
  • Educate asset managers on SMArtX’s onboarding process, operational workflows, platform capabilities, model maintenance procedures, pricing structures, and ongoing expectations.
  • Ensure required documentation, investment strategy information, marketing materials, and operational requirements are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Set clear expectations throughout the implementation process and proactively communicate progress, dependencies, and next steps.
  • Deliver a high-touch onboarding experience that reflects the quality and professionalism of the SMArtX platform.

Drive Operational Execution

  • Manage asset manager onboarding documentation, pricing updates, and related contractual workflows.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance to help move new agreements and amendments efficiently from review and negotiation through execution.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records within Salesforce, Jira, and other internal project management tools.
  • Track onboarding milestones, outstanding deliverables, dependencies, and implementation timelines to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Proactively identify potential risks or delays and coordinate the appropriate internal resources to resolve them.
  • Manage multiple concurrent relationships and initiatives while maintaining a high level of accuracy, organization, and follow-through.

Help Asset Managers Grow on the Platform

Launching on SMArtX is only the beginning of the relationship.

You’ll continue working closely with assigned asset managers to help them:

  • Introduce additional investment strategies to the platform.
  • Navigate ongoing operational requests and platform enhancements.
  • Understand new platform capabilities, products, and releases.
  • Expand participation across applicable distribution channels and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen their relationship with SMArtX.
  • Connect with the appropriate internal resources as their partnership and needs evolve.

Your goal is to ensure every asset manager feels supported, informed, confident, and equipped to grow alongside SMArtX.

Be the Voice of the Asset Manager

As the primary relationship owner, you’ll advocate internally on behalf of your assigned asset managers.

You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Technology, Operations, Client Success, and Leadership to:

  • Communicate asset manager feedback and priorities.
  • Identify recurring themes and opportunities across your portfolio.
  • Escalate and help resolve issues impacting the asset manager experience.
  • Recommend process and workflow improvements.
  • Provide insights that can help influence future platform enhancements.
  • Continuously improve how asset managers experience and engage with SMArtX.

What Makes You Successful

The ideal candidate combines exceptional organization and execution with a genuine ability to build trusted relationships.

You enjoy helping clients navigate unfamiliar or complex processes and have the ability to translate technical and operational information into clear, actionable guidance.

You’re naturally proactive, highly organized, and comfortable managing dozens of concurrent relationships, projects, and priorities without sacrificing attention to detail.

You’re also comfortable working across multiple internal teams and know how to move initiatives forward even when several stakeholders are involved.

Most importantly, you understand that every interaction contributes to the asset manager’s overall experience, and you take pride in representing SMArtX with professionalism, responsiveness, ownership, and integrity.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 6–10 years of experience in relationship management, client success, account management, project management, or a related client-facing role.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple client relationships and complex implementation projects simultaneously.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain technical or operational concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple business functions to achieve common goals.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with both external partners and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Experience or familiarity with:

  • Asset Management or Wealth Management
  • Model Portfolios or Managed Accounts
  • UMA, TAMP, or Wealth Technology Platforms
  • Financial technology solutions supporting financial advisors or investment managers
  • Salesforce CRM
  • Jira or similar project management platforms
  • Contract administration and implementation management
  • Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
