Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search is a hunger relief organization that provides food, nutrition education and innovative programs in order to reduce food insecurity and increase equitable access to food. We serve 200,000 people every month through a network of 330 partners in 42 counties in Missouri and Illinois. We use a combination of immediate food assistance and supportive services, while also working on long-term solutions and systemic changes to help solve the problem of hunger.

Position Summary:
The Operations Associates directly assists the MetroMarket Assistant Leads in running the MetroMarket Mobile Market and warehouse tasks. Operations Associates are involved in a rich variety of tasks and skills including customer service, produce display, quality control, community engagement, maintaining a clean and vibrant sales environment, and assisting with load on/ load off. This position is fun and fast paced, requiring high energy, fast learning, a great attitude, and the ability to think on your feet. This is a seasonal role that runs through November.
Essential Functions:
  • Assists MetroMarket Leads with all produce related tasks, including delivery, produce inventory, packing produce bags, and quality control.
  • Light janitorial duties (sweeping, mopping, taking out trash).
  • Product knowledge of products sold at the MetroMarket Mobile Market.
  • Loading and unloading products to and from mobile vehicles.
  • Provide excellent customer service skills.
  • Deliver and stock inventory of off-site programs.
  • Work closely with the MetroMarket team and OFS to meet community food and other related needs.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
  • At least one year of previous customer service experience.
  • Experience working in community health and/or foodservice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrates OFS core values.
  • Ability to establish positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues and program participants.
  • Ability to drive small transit vehicles.
  • Ability to read and understand maps and delivery instructions and navigate various routes.
  • Ability to work and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Ability to be an effective team member, listen to others, maintain confidentiality, and retain calm/professional demeanor.

Special Requirements:
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have Hep A vaccination or willingness to obtain vaccination prior to start date.
  • Familiar with Trauma Informed Principles.
  • Willingness to drive transit vans for food deliveries within the St. Louis area.
  • Willingness to assist with other OFS duties as required or as assigned.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
  • The job is very physically active
  • Ability to stand for up to two hours at a time and lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be available tp work a varied but set schedule, 6am-7pm, with options Monday-Saturday.
