Fourthstone is a St Louis-based equities fund manager specializing in financial sector opportunities. Role Description

We are seeking an Operations Associate to provide support to the firm’s accounting, business development, IT and compliance functions. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who would like to learn back-office processes and grow into additional responsibility over time. The successful candidate will report to Fourthstone’s Director of Operations and will be responsible for general ledger reporting, record keeping, capital activity tracking and general administrative functions. High potential candidates will also have the opportunity to work with the portfolio management team to track portfolio metrics. A team player comfortable wearing multiple hats would thrive in our growing firm.


Responsibilities

As an Operations Associate, you will be expected to relieve the executive team of administrative details and ensure flawless execution of the firm’s internal processes, including:

  • Working with Fourthstone’s CFO and third-party vendors to ensure the accuracy of internal books and records including expense tracking and fund reimbursements, paying vendor invoices, booking and reporting expense allocations among various entities and reviewing monthly general ledger to confirm proper recording,
  • Processing investor capital activity in coordination with compliance, accounting, investor relations and fund administrator. Track progress of monies related to subscriptions and redemptions,
  • Confirm equity trades and allocate them appropriately to Fourthstone funds,
  • Monitoring adherence to annual compliance calendar on behalf of Chief Compliance Officer, including insuring appropriate documentation is gathered and filed,
  • Manage Fourthstone’s cybersecurity program, including tracking action items identified during vulnerability scans and penetration tests,
  • Preparing wire transfer requests and supporting documentation between clients, custodians, and intermediary firms,
  • Reviewing corporate actions and proxy notices for required processing,
  • Drive employee expense reimbursement process and manage office expenses,
  • Updating marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite,
  • Personnel on-boarding, including required compliance documentation and logistics.


This role will suit a “go getter” who appreciates time sensitivity, is a good communicator, and can manage multiple work streams simultaneously. You should be able to add significant value to the firm in short order and can anticipate being rewarded commensurately.


Desired Skills & Experience

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, with experience working in financial services, accounting or regulatory compliance a plus but not required
  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision in a time-sensitive environment
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and familiarity with financial markets a plus
  • The highest standards of personal and professional integrity and ethics
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, roll up sleeves attitude as well as a positive overall demeanor
  • Hard-working, dedicated, punctual and personable
  • Power user in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Quickbooks knowledge a plus
