Job description

At SimPL Freight Solutions, we simplify transportation for companies that move a lot of freight but don't want the headache of managing it all themselves. We step in as their transportation team - coordinating shipments, managing carrier relationships, tracking performance, and improving how everything runs behind the scenes. 

Our customers range from large manufacturers to high-volume distributors across industries like automotive, building materials, food, and packaging. No matter the industry, the goal is the same: keep freight moving smoothly, efficiently, and without surprises.

Position Overview:

The Logistics Manager manages at least one significant customer account. The LM is responsible for coordinating the movement of all shipments for assigned customer account(s). Day-to-day activities will include proactively identifying and resolving logistics issues as they arise, coordinating and driving the daily activities of team members and communicating directly with the customer to ensure exceptional service. SimPL is looking for people who take ownership of their work, are driven, work well with various personality types and ensure individual, team and company goals are met. 

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Build strong working relationships with both the customer and core carriers that support the movement of assigned customer accounts' shipments. 
  • Collaborate with the SimPL Account Managers to ensure customer expectations are consistently exceeded. 
  • Oversee and motivate team members to exhibit high performance in their respective roles. 
  • Ensure the successful movement of all shipments for dedicated customer accounts and handle any escalated operational issues related to assigned customer accounts. 
  • Utilize the TMS to maximize freight transportation life cycle; ensuring detailed and accurate data is input and maintained in the system for dedicated accounts. 
  • Manage carrier procurement for shipments and build relationships with partner carriers. 
  • Manage escalated operational issues such as claims & breakdown. 
  • Identify patterns with shipper, receiver, and carrier performance and recommend actions for improvement.

Required Qualifications: 

  • One (1) year of experience in transportation or logistics and a high school diploma or GED required 
  • One (1) year of account management experience 
  • One (1) year supervisory experience 
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, transportation, or other related fields is preferred (not required) 
  • Proficiency with MS Office 365 including Excel, SharePoint & PowerPoint 
  • Proficiency with TruckStop, DAT, Highway, and Carrier 411
  • Experience with a TMS
