As the Senior Manager of Customer Marketing, you will lead and grow a customer marketing team within our larger marketing organization, working cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Business Development to drive demand and increase lifetime customer value. You will be the active, empathetic voice of our customer across our marketing materials-defining and telling our brand story through the voice of our customers and turning homeowners into lifelong clean energy advocates through creative, human-centered nurture and engagement strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Team Leadership: Grow and mentor a customer marketing team within the larger marketing organization, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development to build a high-performing, collaborative group.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner and build consensus across business functions-including Sales, Product, and Business Development-to align customer marketing strategy with broader company goals.

Brand Storytelling & Customer Voice

  • Voice of the Customer: Serve as the active, empathetic voice of our customer across all marketing materials.

  • Brand Story: Help define and tell Sunrun's brand story through the voice of our customers, turning homeowners into lifelong clean energy advocates.

  • Social Media Strategy: Help create a social media strategy that tells our customer story across our different channels, infusing content across touchpoints.

Engagement, Adoption & Growth

  • App Adoption & Engagement: Find new ways to increase app adoption and deepen ongoing customer engagement.

  • Referral Generation: Develop and test new ways to generate customer referrals and grow customer advocacy.

Lifecycle Optimization & Analytics

  • Customer Journey Mapping: Own customer journey mapping and infuse data into journeys to continuously improve the customer experience and activation rates.

  • Reporting & Insights: Track key performance indicators such as app usage, email engagement, NPS/CSAT, referral volume, and post-activation revenue, and present a clear point of view to executive leadership.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Certifications, and Other Skills)

  • Experience: 5-7 years of related experience in CRM, database marketing, or loyalty marketing.

  • Leadership: A proven team leader with experience building, growing, and developing marketing talent.

  • Social & Content Strategy: Experienced in social channels and strategy, with the ability to infuse content across different touchpoints.

  • Collaboration: Highly collaborative, with the ability to communicate and build consensus across different business functions.

  • Communication: A clear communicator and strong writer, with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Strategic Thinking: A strategic thinker able to present and articulate a strong point of view to executive leadership.

  • Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of CRM databases and Marketing Automation Systems (e.g., Salesforce, Marketo).

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to extract qualitative and quantitative insights from data to drive business recommendations.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Operational Tech Proficiency: Ability to perform standard office duties, including prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to executive-level builder partners.
