The Opportunity

As a dedicated Product Development Manager for Modernization, you will support the development of new products into target strategic markets. Provides support for product line initiatives related to product development, compliance, operational and process improvements, claims management, vendor management, product documentation, fulfillment, and/or system releases.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Chesapeake, VA, Colorado Springs, CO, or Tampa, FL.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Participate in the development of digital first products supporting the needs and risks of USAA Members.

  • Support efforts to develop and launch new innovative product offerings as well as auxiliary/enhanced features/services for existing products.

  • Advise others in the launch of new products and in the evaluation and decision to buy/build or partner.

  • Generate creative product and coverage solutions for members needs to ensure a dynamic product development pipeline exists.

  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge of business and underwriting performance for products in scope (e.g. trends, results, etc.).

  • Analyze internal and external data and member information to support formulation of product strategy and enhance competitive intelligence.

  • Conduct analysis of key data to support on-going monitoring, maintenance and underwriting of existing 'new in market' products based on product performance, member needs and competitive changes in the market including but not limited to product rules, rates, and forms.

  • Develop and communicate the new product value proposition for product enhancements/features.

  • Guide Member Contact teams on how to effectively use sales guides and provides education on new products and services, including new offerings and enhancements to existing features.

  • Analyze and evaluate new product performance metrics to recommend offering changes, if necessary, prior to full launch.

  • Coordinate with relevant control partners (including Leal, Compliance, and Risk Management) to ensure product offerings are designed and implemented in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or Statistics; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, Operations, Financial Services or relevant military experience.

  • Experience with conversion of a line of business onto a modernization platform

  • Experience conducting research, compiling and analyzing data, and identifying trends that have supported product decisions.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, deploying and supporting products and/or integrated suite of products.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).

  • Demonstrated multiline insurance expertise with strong knowledge of Auto, Dwelling/Homeowners, and Umbrella products, including coverage interpretation, risk assessment, and claims impacts across product lines.

  • Proven experience leading or contributing to platform modernization, digital transformation, or process improvement initiatives, including implementation of new technologies, workflow optimization, and operational enhancements within the P&C industry.

  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex data, identify trends, uncover root causes, and develop actionable solutions that improve business outcomes.

  • Strong sense of personal ownership and accountability, with a track record of taking initiative, driving results, and leading projects through successful execution while maintaining a customer-focused mindset.

  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and translate complex business challenges into strategic recommendations that support organizational objectives.

  • Proficient knowledge of SAS, SQL, Tableau, or similar software

  • Highly effective communication and salesmanship skills leverage to guide, mentor, and influence product enhancements

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $114,080 - $218,030.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
