ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Urban Dove Team Charter is looking for a manager of curriculum and instruction to collaborate with teachers to refine curriculum and enhance classroom dynamics. Bridging the gap between staff and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, they utilize student data to guide instructional improvements in alignment with Urban Dove's core mission and values.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Urban Dove Team Charter School (UD Team) is a distinctive network of sports-based high schools catering to over-aged, under-credited youth. We fuse a robust academic curriculum with sports-based youth development, ensuring our graduates receive a diploma, a stepping stone for higher education, and essential job skills.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • In-Class Support:
    • Provide comprehensive support to all teachers, including content and special education instructors, through activities such as observation, modeling, collaborative planning sessions, and regular feedback.
    • Conduct formal observations for accountability purposes.
  • Co-Planning Support:
    • Collaborate with teaching teams to facilitate effective co-planning routines and cultivate a positive teaching culture.
  • Data-Informed Instruction:
    • Lead sessions with groups of teachers to analyze student data, incorporating various metrics such as Reading and Math Inventories, Regents exams, NYSESLAT scores, report card grades, attendance, and student classwork, to inform instruction, student feedback, and grading practices.
  • Positive Behavior Management:
    • Support the development and implementation of classroom positive behavior incentive management plans.
  • Instructional Model Implementation:
    • Assist in the implementation of the Urban Dove model of instruction, ensuring adherence to core elements such as direct skill-based instruction, gradual release, differentiation, CRSE, equitable grading, MLL supports, etc.
  • Collaboration with Curriculum and Literacy Specialists:
    • Collaborate with the DCI to act as a liaison between teachers and curriculum specialists and literacy specialists.
  • Professional Development:
    • Work with the DCI and MSEM to create and implement a professional development plan for instructional staff, empowering them to share best practices through workshops, intervisitation, and collaboration.
    • Coordinate with the Charter Center Collaborative to ensure teachers attend professional development sessions for continuous professional growth.
  • Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Meet weekly with the DCI to communicate progress on professional goals and manage and maintain department Google Drive folders.
    • Act as a liaison between teachers and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction (DCI) to ensure effective communication and support throughout the academic year.
  • Organizational Support:
    • Support teachers in organizational and task management aspects to enhance efficiency.
  • Student Support:
    • Manage Credit Recovery
    • Manage remote instruction
  • Continuous Professional Growth:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to expand knowledge of instructional practices in all content areas.
  • Collaboration with data manager around regents administration, proctoring, and regents grading

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's Degree preferred
  • New York State Certification.
  • Minimum three years of UD teaching experience.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and maintain high-quality work.
  • Desire to create programs tailored for our unique student population.
  • Aligned with UD Team's mission, core values, and youth development approach.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a passion for serving at-risk youth.
  • Ability to actively engage with students and move throughout the school as needed.
  • Ability to navigate stairs and assist with setup or materials as required. Accommodations available per ADA.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Compensation: $71,000 to $115,000 annually based on years of experience and education.
