ALABASTER CITY SCHOOLS

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Instructional Coach Reading

JOB GOAL: To help ensure that teachers have knowledge of appropriate curriculum and expertise in teaching techniques, methods and procedures necessary to help each student graduate college and/or career ready.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Director of Teaching and Learning

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A valid Alabama certificate in the area of administration supervision or teacher leadership.
  2. A minimum of five years successful teaching experience.
  3. Knowledge of, and experience in, curriculum development.
  4. Experience in conducting workshops and teacher training.
  5. Excellent communication skills with an emphasis in best practices.
  6. Proficient in computer usage.
  7. Such alternatives as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in the developing and updating Alabaster City's Courses of Study and Curriculum Guides.
  2. Assist in the evaluation, development, and improvement of course content, curriculum, and instructional activities.
  3. Assist in the publication and training of instructional-related staff development, including new teacher orientation and in-service training.
  4. Serve as site leader, coach, and mentor.
  5. Assist with school-wide testing programs.
  6. Assist in data collection and analysis.
  7. Be regular and punctual in attendance.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of any Board of Education related business.
  9. Assume other responsibilities and duties that might be reasonably assigned.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve Months

SALARY RANGE: Appropriate placement on current salary schedule.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the support personnel evaluation system and Board policy.
