Job description

Serve as Program Manager for large and/or complex, multi-million-dollar, multi-year strategic programs and enterprise level work initiatives for SECURA Insurance. The Program Manager is aligned to a functional business area and works closely with those in a business owner role along with their Product Owner(s) and IT Supervisor(s) to ensure the team's work is effectively planned and executed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for overall program management of multi-million dollar, multi-year strategic programs and projects for SECURA Insurance
  • Define program governance (controls) and ensure that all the projects within the program follow the standard procedures that are used in the management and deployment of projects per the EPMO
  • Partner with senior executives across the company to facilitate successful stewardship and governance of corporate programs and projects
  • Manage key vendor relationships, including overseas vendors, engaged on corporate programs and projects
  • Responsible for working with business and product owners on planning, sequencing and scheduling program-level roll-ups of individual project goals, dependencies, milestones and deliverables
  • Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects
  • Plan and manage the financial resources (budget, spend plan, variance reporting) allocated to the program and projects
  • Monitor and control resource management for project and program implementation including the utilization of shared resources across multiple projects
  • Daily, tactical program and project management throughout the program life cycle to keep a forward-looking lens on what needs to be in place for teams to deliver on commitments
  • Coordinate projects both within, and outside of, the program, including any interdependencies
  • Undertake strategy creation for program-level contingency planning and risk mitigation
  • Exhibit leadership qualities to oversee and direct the program/project team, manage conflicts within the different groups, and identify and solve project issues effectively
  • Develop RFP (Requests for Proposals) for external services as needed
  • Design and execute program and project communication plans in conjunction with Organizational Change Manager(s) to include reporting, facilitation, collaboration, presentation and development of technical documentation for audiences ranging from executives to individual contributors
  • Establish a partnership with IT and business unit peers, stakeholder groups and project teams
  • Facilitate the team and stakeholders through change and risk/issue management and in making trade-off decisions between quality, costs, resources, scope and time
  • Compile project status reporting and stakeholder status communications
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and suggest additional improvement opportunities
  • Serve as scrum master when required including facilitating SCRUM events, eliminating team impediments, encouraging collaboration, supporting product owner and tracking progress
  • Provide agile coaching to teams, ensuring they understand and effectively implement Agile principles and continuously mature their practice
  • Demonstrate Insurance-industry and/or solid business management leadership and acumen
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or business-related field
  • 8+ years project and/or program management or equivalent experience leading large and complex initiatives
  • PMP, PMI-ACP and/or CSM certification
  • Comprehensive knowledge and utilization of project, program and portfolio management methodologies and associated techniques, approaches and toolsets
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Highly motivated, organized and a self-starter
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • ADO or other PPM tool experience

PREFERRED:
  • P&L insurance industry experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • CPCU or other professional insurance designations
