Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Culture Associate:  The Culture Associate will serve as a support to our commitment to our BelovED staff and scholars by always adhering to 3 guiding principles:

  • Recognize each person's unique value and contribution to the BelovED community and the fulfillment of its mission. 

The key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to the following:

Expectations

The Culture Associate reports to the Dean of Culture and is a reflection of the Dean of Culture office and therefore is expected to model expectations throughout the day.  This includes but is not limited to:

    • Being a model of BelovED's VIBE values
    • Promotion of positive school climate
    • Facilitating strong meetings (as needed) by having agendas prepared in advance and sending out action steps following each meeting
    • Being on time and present during meetings
    • Comply with HR protocols

Student Culture 

    • Support the daily operations of the Dean of Culture Office, ensuring it is organized, welcoming, and consistently staffed.
    • Assist with student check-ins, reflections, and follow-up conversations related to behavior or restorative conversations.
    • Help document consequences in accordance with BelovED's consequence chart, ensuring consistency and fairness.
    • Supervise students during in-school suspension (ISS) and ensure that expectations and assignments are completed. Ensure students in ISS have classwork to complete
    • Support the implementation of whole-school expectations (e.g., uniforms, hallway transitions, and arrival/dismissal routines).
    • Track and input student behavior data in DeansList and help prepare weekly family reports.
    • Support restorative practices and behavior plans under the direction of the Dean of Culture or Managing Director.

Data 

    • Maintain accurate records of student incidents, interventions, and restorative outcomes in DeansList.
    • Assist in compiling reports that connect behavioral trends to academic data.
    • Support communication between the Dean of Culture, teachers, and families.

Community Circle/Event Planning/Whole School Moments

    • Support the supervision of lunch, arrival, transition and dismissal (whole-school moments) to ensure safety and smooth transitions.
    • Support with the planning and execution of school-wide culture initiatives
    • Support with staffing and execution of After-School Reflection (ASR)

Teacher and Staff Support

    • Help collect and organize classroom culture data and observations for the Dean of Culture team.
    • Provide assistance to teachers implementing classroom management systems or schoolwide culture routines.
    • Participate in professional development and staff meetings focused on building strong classroom and school culture.

Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

It is critical that candidates possess:

  • BA or BS;
  • Knowledge of school software platforms; and
