POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Crossover Youth Prevention Specialist will be a liaison responsible for the linkage and services between DJJ, DCF, JDC, OJDC, community providers and Family Partnerships of Central Florida. Services will be provided in-home to youth and families who are safe but could benefit from services provided via providers in the community to prevent them from moving further into the system of care. Crossover Youth Prevention Specialist is to oversee the delivery and care coordination of services, make referrals, and provide community linkages. This position will support DJJ staffing processes across agencies. They will facilitate seamless coordination across multiple stakeholder agencies and will coordinate high-impact youth services and identify system resource needs. They will handle specialized DJJ checks, data collection, documentation, and ongoing monitoring functions. The Crossover Youth Prevention Specialist's goal is to advance youth well-being and reduce juvenile justice involvement in Circuit 9 by coordinating cross-system responses, ensuring timely information-sharing and referrals, and supporting community-based placements.
Position Summary: This is an exempt position that provides oversight and coordination to front end service delivery within Orange and Osceola counties, ensuring that (Youth) children and families have access to the least restrictive services available while ensuring safety. The Crossover Youth Prevention Specialist will work interchangeably with the DJJ Manager, Diversion Specialist and DCF Lockout Specialists to ensure the best outcomes for the Youth (children) and families within the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
โ€ข Serve as an agency representative regarding Juvenile Justice programs.
โ€ข Assisting with diverting delinquent and community children from the dependency system by referring DJJ cases to community providers. Providing family support and assisting with the coordination of service's needs.
โ€ข Providing technical assistance to case management staff regarding DJJ programs and policies and protocols.
โ€ข Providing direct support to intake and placement units and CPI's and CMA's by providing the delinquency face sheets and other relevant delinquency information necessary to obtain safe and appropriate placement.
โ€ข Attend staffing's related to delinquency juveniles as needed.
โ€ข Ensure that any working agreements between FPOCF and DJJ are followed.
โ€ข Participating in the agency strategic planning and quality improvement process.
โ€ข Complete any necessary file documentation and process data through FSFN and other required data systems.
โ€ข Prepare documentation to identify prevention efforts.
โ€ข Crossover Prevention Specialist is a liaison between the CPI and community providers for service provisions and case diversion.
โ€ข Crossover Prevention Specialist Act as a support for the CPI regarding providing/ offering a service that will keep children in their homes/ communities safely and not have to enter out of home care or foster care, as well as service delivery with providers and community resources.
โ€ข Crossover Prevention Specialist engage families / JPO's and all community providers to customize services to the need of the families and current situation.
โ€ข Crossover Prevention Specialist maintains monthly prevention logs and DJJ tracking mechanisms for diversion/prevention purposes.
โ€ข Crossover Prevention Specialist to spend 90-100% of their time co-located at the CPI service centers.
โ€ข Crossover Prevention Specialist to be involved and become a part of the CPI service centers and the daily goings on in the service center regarding crossover youth cases and/or possible shelters that might be occurring.
โ€ข Identify cases in need of specialized staffings, such as Local Review Team (LRT) and Dually served Crossover.
โ€ข Ability to safely & successfully perform essential job duties consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
โ€ข Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
โ€ข Ability to comply with all personnel policies and procedures.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: All degrees must be from an accredited university.
Bachelor's degree in a human service-related field.
Related degrees are Behavioral Sciences, Community Development, Criminology/Criminal Justice. Education, Health Science, Human Development, Human Sciences, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, & Social Work.
โ€ข Two years of experience in the delivery of dependency/child welfare/DJJ services
โ€ข Extensive knowledge of the Juvenile Justice system and procedures
PREFERRED:
โ€ข Child Protection Professional certification.
โ€ข Dependency case management /CPI experience.
โ€ข Delinquency system experience.
โ€ข Prior knowledge of working with at-risk youth where multiple dynamics may be present.
โ€ข Experience and knowledge of ungovernable teens and family needs.
SKILLS:
โ€ข Ability to accommodate flexible work schedule.
โ€ข Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
โ€ข Ability to learn computer skills-sufficient to perform all essential functions.
โ€ข Ability to solve problems, make decisions and implement plans.
โ€ข Ability to set and meet deadlines, solve problems and manage multiple tasks.
โ€ข Ability to travel.
โ€ข Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
โ€ข Effective verbal and written communication skills.
โ€ข Demonstrate culture and linguistic competency and sensitivity to population served.
โ€ข Well organized and results oriented with strong customer service skills.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  1. Must possess knowledge of child development; including physical, mental, emotional and cultural and ethnicity issues required.
  2. Must possess an ability to deal professionally, courteously, and effectively with clients and other employees.
  3. Ability to collaborate effectively in a community-based environment.
  4. Must attend relevant skills-enhancement training and demonstrate required program specific knowledge.
  5. Time management skills are necessary to accomplish this position.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
โ€ข Thorough Background Screening upon hire including FBI, FDLE, Local Law check, Employment Reference check, DMV check, Criminal Records check, Social Security Trace & Drug Screening. FDLE check will be run at least every 5 years.
โ€ข Travel- local: 25% per week, long-distance: 1% per month
โ€ข Attend at least 15 hours of in-service training annually
