A Day in the Life of an RN - Obstetrical (OB)

As a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Obstetrics (OB) at our rural healthcare facility, you will provide comprehensive maternal-child healthcare encompassing antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care. You are expected to utilize your expertise in nursing theory, employing effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with physicians, patients, and other healthcare professionals. Challenges include high-stakes environments requiring quick decision-making and adaptation to diverse patient needs, particularly during emergency situations like Code C-sections or Code Pink alerts. Your role will also involve leadership, supervising patient care teams to ensure high-quality care delivery and efficiency. The nursing process observation, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation guides all your activities, aiming for excellence in patient outcomes.

Qualifications Education and Experience

  • American Heart Association ACLS and NRP within 4 months of hire
  • American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire
  • STABLE within 1 year of hire
  • Current Minnesota RN License
  • For Charge RN: NRP within 4 months of hire, PALS within 1 year of hire

Preferred

  • Previous experience in OB
