A Day in the Life of an RN - Oncology Coordinator
The Oncology Coordinator, a specialized RN, plays a pivotal role in the seamless management of cancer patient care from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. This individual facilitates cohesive care planning by implementing provider orders, monitoring test results, and enhancing communication within the oncology team. Challenges include maintaining up-to-date knowledge on oncology practices and effectively managing patient communication regarding treatment plans and oral chemotherapy procedures. The role requires regular interaction with various healthcare professionals to coordinate services and improve patient outcomes. Additionally, the RN Oncology Coordinator acts as an advocate for the patient, ensuring they are informed and involved in their treatment decisions, while also serving as a clinical resource within the team.

Education and Experience
Required
  • American Heart Association ACLS within 4 months of hire
  • American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire
  • Bachelor's degree of science/art in nursing within 5 years
  • Completion of Chemotherapy Certification Course (Cancer Chemo Provider)
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) within two years of hire
  • Two years clinical experience in oncology care
  • Current Minnesota RN license
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree of science/art in nursing
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)

The pay range is listed above. Actual pay rate offered is determined based on experience as an RN. Please be sure to include all applicable experience in your application.
