What you'll be doing

As a Senior Commercial Credit Manager reporting to the Senior Director, Credit Risk Management, Ontario Region, you will be responsible for managing the adjudication of a portfolio of Diversified Industries Commercial Banking borrowers. You will adjudicate credit applications within delegated lending authority and ensure that Commercial Banking partners exercise sound credit practices through periodic consultation and visits. You will also be required to liaise closely with CIBC business officers and other risk managers in managing credit risk transactions.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

  • Assess credit applications - Review the financial history of applicants and assess exposure to the Bank from a risk/return perspective. You'll also approve or decline all credit applications within the designated portfolio and refer accounts to the Senior Director only in those instances where sensitivities of a business or public relations nature necessitate discussions or disclosure at a more senior level.

  • Monitor risk - Provide ongoing assessment of the portfolio, including the timely review of risk ratings, as well as the monitoring of action plans for high risk/watch list accounts and accounts that could potentially be added to the high risk/watch list accounts list.

  • Establish action plans & prepare recommendations - Describe corrective measures to be implemented to address credit related issues, as well as develop corrective measures to address credit related issues and monitor the effectiveness of such measures. You'll partner with Risk Management colleagues and line lending officers on credit risk management matters and assist the relationship managers and market leaders to recommend the best approach to fulfil their credit risk mandate.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate a minimum 3-5 years of experiencein Commercial Credit Adjudication and/or Commercial Banking.

  • It's an asset if you have strong credit risk management expertise with knowledge in lending products, policies and guidelines, local and national market knowledge, and legislative and regulatory requirements-sufficient to provide value-added assistance with adjudication and processes.

  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • You have a degree in Business, Finance, and/or related field.
