Job description

Sr. Credit Representative

Tire Rack is seeking an experienced Sr. Credit Representative to join our Credit team in South Bend, Indiana. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of wholesale and fleet customer accounts, ensuring timely collections, minimizing credit risk, and supporting the efficient release of customer orders. You will work closely with internal teams and customers to resolve account issues while providing exceptional service and helping protect the financial health of the organization.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong collections experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building customer relationships, and can make sound decisions with confidence and professionalism.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a portfolio of wholesale and fleet customer accounts, ensuring timely payment and healthy account status.
  • Audit customer accounts to support timely order release and shipment.
  • Monitor aged receivables and perform collection activities to maintain payment within established terms.
  • Evaluate customer accounts for credit approval, manual holds, and appropriate credit limits.
  • Assess and manage credit risk while helping minimize potential financial losses.
  • Develop recommendations for credit terms and account management strategies based on account performance.
  • Investigate past-due balances, returned payments, including non-sufficient funds transactions, fees, and account discrepancies.
  • Handle inbound customer calls through the Automatic Call Distributor system while providing exceptional customer service via telephone, email, fax, and mail.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Verification, Accounting, and other departments to resolve account issues and expedite order fulfillment.
  • Communicate collection concerns, account resolutions, and potential bad-debt recommendations to management.
  • Maintain accurate account documentation and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Use available credit, communication, documentation, artificial intelligence, and account-management tools to research accounts, organize information, improve efficiency, and support informed decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of five years of experience in account management, collections, credit, or a related financial role.
  • Strong knowledge of billing processes, credit management, and collection practices.
  • Experience using Creditsafe, OneNote, Nuvo, Adobe Acrobat, or similar credit, documentation, artificial intelligence, and account-management systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work with online documents, shared files, and electronic paperless documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to make sound account-management decisions using experience, independent judgment, and detailed account analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and resolve issues with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong customer-service skills with the patience and professionalism to manage challenging conversations.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered.

Schedule

  • Normal workdays are Monday through Friday.
  • Typical hours are 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Additional hours, including occasional Saturdays and Sundays, may be required based on business needs.
