Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director's Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department's guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.
Position Summary
"INTERNAL ONLY: Internal posting for permanent, time-limited, layoff priority employees of UNC-Chapel Hill, and temporary employees hired directly by UNC-Chapel Hill only."
The Director of Gameday Graphics will work within the Gameday Productions group. This group's purpose is to develop and execute the production of in-venue entertainment at University of North Carolina Athletic competitions. In addition to managing the creative elements of the in-venue game presentation for assigned varsity sports, this person will serve as co-producer during events. Responsible for developing strategies to engage and entertain fans, to tell the story of Carolina's student-athletes, coaches and sport programs, and work with the sponsorship sales team to integrate sponsorship elements into the in-venue presentation. This includes the creation and programming of content for LED and video displays, still and animated content creation and video content. Position is assigned the responsibility of developing and executing productions and elements that will have multimillion dollar impact to the Athletic Department through sponsorship revenue and ticket sales. This person in this position will manage the execution of these elements by directing full-time, part-time and freelance personnel during game presentation. This person will possess strong design, creative, leadership and communication skills to develop and implement strategies.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with three years or greater of related professional experience in marketing, communications, journalism, public affairs, or a related field; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and five years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The Director of Gameday Graphics will be responsible for design, development and execution of content for all LED displays in UNC Athletics venues. Position requires a professional level understanding of operation of Ross Xpression graphics systems. This should include scene design, scripting, building dashboards, logic, 3D graphics and text, animation, data integration and other skills. Additionally, candidates should have experience using Xpression Tessera system for large scale displays. Also, advanced level knowledge of editing and creative programs such as Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe AfterEffects and other applicable Adobe Creative Suite platforms are required.
Video and Audio Knowledge: Must have knowledge of professional video production. The position will require knowledge of mixing and editing video and audio for broadcast output.
Live event production: Understanding of roles, equipment, and techniques needed to execute a multicamera live production. Working knowledge of production switchers, professional-level replay systems, data integration and other components needed to execute gameday productions.
Supervisory Skills: The ability to supervise part time and student assistants. This position will need to train and supervise operators for events.
Creativity: Creativity is crucial for the building of all projects. Products need to be motivating, invigorating and aspirational for viewers. The ability to create elements that are original and special is essential. Position requires the ability to work many long hours, especially during the academic year.

-Expert in programming of Ross Xpression graphics systems including Ross Tessera, scripting, animation, playback, 3D modeling, and integration of Datalinq sources.
