Role Summary:

The Design Manager / Senior Design Engineer is responsible for leading the day-to-day design development and coordination of interior design projects from concept through construction documentation, with a focus on workplace transformation and repositioning of existing commercial buildings. Balancing creativity with execution, the Design Manager ensures that the project's design intent is realized through thoughtful detailing, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and clear communication with clients and consultants.

This role requires hands-on leadership-guiding design teams, managing deadlines and deliverables, and ensuring design solutions are both innovative and buildable. The Design Manager serves as a bridge between design vision and technical execution.

Key Responsibilities:1. Design Leadership
  • Translate client goals and workplace strategy into functional, aesthetic, and brand-aligned design concepts.

  • Lead the interior design process from programming and concept development through design documentation and FF&E.

  • Oversee space planning, test fits, finishes, and furnishings selection with attention to detail and user experience.

  • Collaborate closely with architects, technical directors, and project managers to ensure design integrity through all project phases.

2. Team & Workflow Management
  • Manage and mentor design team members, reviewing work for quality, clarity, and alignment with project goals.

  • Organize design tasks, deadlines, and internal workflows to maintain momentum and quality control.

  • Lead internal design meetings, pin-ups, and coordination reviews.

3. Client Communication & Presentations
  • Present design concepts, mood boards, and plans to clients and real estate partners.

  • Translate client feedback into actionable design direction and ensure client satisfaction at every milestone.

  • Participate in user visioning, programming workshops, and stakeholder engagement.

4. Building Repositioning Knowledge
  • Apply design strategies that enhance leasing potential for repositioned commercial spaces such as lobbies, amenities, spec suites, and base building upgrades.

  • Understand the unique needs of landlord-driven projects and broker collaboration.

  • Contribute to test fits and speculative suite planning aligned with real estate trends and tenant demands.

5. Documentation Oversight
