Who We Are:

Crafty’s mission is to help companies craft better workplaces by providing the services and technology to deliver a modern, comprehensive food & beverage program for their employees, no matter where they work. After operating with a vertically integrated supply chain (i.e., directly fulfilling orders from Crafty-operated distribution centers) in Chicago and the Bay Area, our team launched a third party fulfillment model that has rapidly scaled our coverage into over 25 markets globally, in just a year’s time.

At Crafty, we have a diverse, high-powered team, composed of folks in technology, supply chain operations, field operations, sales, account management, and more. Our workplace is dynamic, fast-paced, and just plain fun; we pride ourselves in having an amazing mix of humans who make up our team!

The Role

Crafty is seeking an Accounting Manager, AP + Partner Billing to lead the accounting operations supporting Accounts Payable, Partner Billing, and related month-end close activities. This role is responsible for designing scalable operating processes, strengthening financial controls, overseeing outsourced accounting operations, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of partner billing and disbursement activities. The Accounting Manager will serve as the primary owner of Partner Billing close readiness, accounting workflow governance, vendor and partner escalations, Ramp administration, NetSuite data integrity, and Flatworld performance management.

This person will manage the Senior Accounting Specialist and oversee three Flatworld resources responsible for Partner Billing, Core operations, manual order workflows, Ramp draft bill readiness, coding review, and recurring accounting support activities. The Accounting Manager will establish operational standards, performance expectations, and scalable processes across a high-volume, cross-functional accounting organization.

As Crafty continues to evolve its accounting operations, this role will play a key leadership role in standardizing processes, strengthening documentation, improving automation, and building sustainable operating procedures that support future growth. Success in this role will depend on leadership, sound accounting judgment, systems thinking, and continuous process improvement.

The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting operator and people leader who can represent Crafty with credibility in vendor, partner, and internal stakeholder conversations. They are not only comfortable in the details of AP, accruals, reconciliations, close calendars, and controls, but also skilled at building systems of accountability: dashboards, recurring reviews, SOPs, workflow automations, exception tracking, and clear team expectations. Success in this role means building a scalable accounting operations function that runs on reliable processes, strong controls, clear ownership, and measurable performance.

Required Attributes

Accounting Operations + Close Ownership: Understands how accounts payable, partner billing, and related accounting activity flow through the general ledger, month-end close, accruals, reconciliations, audit support, and financial statement accuracy.

Partner Billing Accountability: Owns the accuracy, timeliness, and control environment for Crafty’s Partner Billing function within Core, Crafty’s internally developed software. Ensures partner invoices are reconciled, reviewed, escalated, and completed by system lock deadlines, while maintaining clear accountability across Flatworld, Core, Ramp, and Finance stakeholders.

Controls Mindset: Designs and enforces segregation of duties, approval workflows, payment controls, vendor setup review, exception management, and audit-ready documentation.

Systems Leadership: Owns Ramp governance and NetSuite data integrity, including workflow configuration, coding rules, approval routing, sync error resolution, and system adoption. Operates as an AI-native leader who actively uses AI tools to improve visibility, automate routine work, strengthen controls, and scale accounting operations.

People + Vendor Management: Leads internal team members and outsourced resources by setting clear expectations, conducting quality reviews, establishing KPIs, defining weekly operating rhythms, and implementing remediation plans. Interfaces directly with vendors to reconcile account activity, resolve payment inquiries, and maintain strong vendor relationships.

Executive Communication: Communicates clearly with vendors, partners, executive stakeholders, internal teams, and leadership; owns escalations through resolution and documents decisions.

Accounting Process Leadership: Builds scalable SOPs, reporting, automations, and operating cadences across accounting operations that reduce manual work, improve visibility, strengthen internal controls, and increase accountability.

Operational Rigor: Manages daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc responsibilities without losing sight of controls, close deadlines, SLAs, and stakeholder experience.

Ideal Experience

5–8+ years of accounting experience, with direct ownership of AP-related accruals, reconciliations, close activities, and financial statement accuracy.Experience managing or directly overseeing AP, vendor payments, payment approvals, and high-volume invoice workflows.Experience leading outsourced or shared-service teams through KPIs, QA routines, weekly reviews, documented expectations, and performance remediation.Hands-on experience with accounting systems, expense platforms, and ERP data flows; Ramp and NetSuite experience strongly preferred.Experience supporting monthly financial close activities through reconciliations, accrual analysis, audit preparation, or financial reporting support.Demonstrated ability to build or improve controls, SOPs, approval workflows, exception tracking, reporting, and cross-functional finance processes.Experience communicating with vendors, partners, internal stakeholders, and senior leaders in situations requiring accuracy, urgency, and judgment.Experience using Claude or other AI model tools to improve accounting workflows, analyze exceptions, draft documentation, summarize data, build repeatable processes, or automate routine follow-up.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; CPA or comparable technical accounting foundation is a plus.

Don’t meet all of the qualifications? We want you to consider all of your skills and experiences - both professional and personal - that would make you successful in this role. Although some qualifications are essential, others can be attained with time. We believe diverse perspectives, upbringings, and knowledge contribute to our strong company culture and we encourage you to apply.

Role GoalsGoal #1: Accounting Operations Performance:

Meets: >98% on-time payments; aging trend improves quarter over quarter; vendor SLA is consistently met.

Exceeds: >99% on-time payments; invoices >30 and >60 days past due decline materially; vendor backlog remains minimal.

New Standard: AP aging, payment readiness, and vendor response performance are visible in recurring reporting and managed proactively before escalations occur.

Goal #2: Close Readiness + Controls:

Meets: Partner Billing completed by BD1; AP lock completed by BD5; exceptions reviewed and documented monthly.

Exceeds: Close readiness is achieved with minimal rework and a consistent pre-close review cadence.

New Standard: Close readiness is predictable, measurable, and supported by documented controls, ownership, and quality gates.

Goal #3: Outsourced Vendor Management Accountability + Quality:

Meets: Weekly Flatworld audit report is reviewed; recurring issues are documented and escalated; quality expectations are clear.

Exceeds: Flatworld performance improves quarter over quarter with fewer exceptions and faster resolution.

New Standard: Flatworld work is managed through clear KPIs, documented QA routines, and transparent accountability across Ramp, Rossum, and Core workflows.

Goal #4: AI + Automation:

Meets: At least two recurring AI-enabled or automated workflows are implemented and used by the team.

Exceeds: Automated reporting and notifications reduce manual follow-up and improve SLA adherence.

New Standard: The AP + Partner Billing function runs with proactive exception detection, automated visibility, and clear owner-level next actions.
