What is a Dutch Finance job?

Dutch Finance jobs refer to positions within the financial sector in the Netherlands or roles that require expertise in Dutch financial regulations, markets, or language. These jobs can include roles such as financial analyst, accountant, auditor, tax advisor, or banking specialist, often with a focus on Dutch clients or compliance with Dutch law. Professionals in Dutch Finance may work for local or international companies operating in the Netherlands, and fluency in Dutch is often required. The sector is known for its strong regulatory environment, international outlook, and significant presence of multinational firms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Dutch Finance role?

To thrive in a Dutch Finance role, you generally need a solid background in accounting, financial analysis, and knowledge of Dutch financial regulations, often supported by a finance or accounting degree. Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP, advanced Excel skills, and relevant certifications such as RA (Register Accountant) or CMA are typically required. Job description

About Us

Dutch Vet is transforming veterinary care by making expert treatment accessible anytime, anywhere. Our mission is simple: help every pet live their happiest, healthiest life by connecting pet parents with licensed vets through seamless virtual visits.

We’re the only veterinary telemedicine service that can diagnose, prescribe, and ship medications directly to customers in most states. For less than $100 per year, Dutch offers real relief and convenience for pets and their families.

As one customer put it: “Dutch was the only site that would diagnose and prescribe meds as well as ship the meds.”

Here’s what other customers have said about Dutch Vet:

"The easiest vet visit you'll ever have.”

"More thorough than my in-person vet.”

"No nonsense, quick, easy and friendly veterinarian. Much cheaper than our regular local vet that couldn’t get us in. So glad I found Dutch!"

Backed by world-class investors including Forerunner Ventures, Eclipse Ventures, and Bling Capital, our team is made-up of successful startup founders (Hims, PlushCare, Nasty Gal) with expertise in scaling enterprises (TripAdvisor, Walmart, BARK). Featured in TechCrunch, Forbes, Wired, and Axios, Dutch is setting the standard for quality, accessibility, and compassion in pet care.

The Role

We’re looking for a GM of Insurance to build, launch, and scale Dutch’s pet insurance business.

This is a highly entrepreneurial leadership role for someone who can operate like the CEO of a new business line inside a fast-growing company. You will be responsible for taking Dutch’s insurance vertical from early stage to national scale — including building the operating model, launching across all 50 states, developing the go-to-market strategy, managing key insurance partners, and owning the business P&L.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strategic thinking with deep execution. You should be comfortable building from zero, navigating regulated markets, managing cross-functional teams, and making the commercial decisions required to grow a meaningful, profitable business.

Please note this is a fully remote role, but you must reside in Canada OR any of the following states: Tennessee, California, Illinois, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, Washington.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Own Dutch’s pet insurance vertical end-to-end, including strategy, launch, growth, operations, and financial performance
  • Develop the business plan for Dutch Insurance, including revenue model, margin profile, customer acquisition strategy, retention strategy, and long-term growth roadmap
  • Lead the work required to make Dutch Insurance available nationally, including the path to launching in all 50 states
  • Partner with legal, compliance, insurance carriers, brokers, TPAs, and other external partners to ensure Dutch’s insurance offering is compliant, scalable, and operationally sound
  • Evaluate and manage insurance partnership structures, including carrier relationships, agency/broker models, underwriting partners, claims partners, and potential MGA-style opportunities
  • Define the customer experience across quote, purchase, onboarding, claims education, renewal, and ongoing member engagement
  • Work closely with product, engineering, marketing, lifecycle, CX, clinical, legal, and finance to integrate insurance into the Dutch member experience
  • Build and optimize the insurance funnel, including pricing presentation, plan positioning, conversion, attach rate, and cross-sell opportunities
  • Own the insurance P&L, including revenue, CAC, contribution margin, retention, partner economics, and operating costs
  • Develop dashboards, reporting, and operating cadences to track the health of the business
  • Identify new growth opportunities across Dutch’s existing member base, new member acquisition funnel, employer/affiliate channels, and strategic partnerships
  • Build the team, processes, and vendor infrastructure required to scale the vertical over time
  • Serve as the internal expert and executive owner for the insurance business
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in insurance, consumer fintech, healthcare, pet care, marketplace, subscription, or regulated consumer businesses
  • Experience owning a business line, product line, marketplace, or P&L with measurable revenue and margin accountability
  • Strong understanding of insurance business models, ideally including carrier partnerships, distribution, brokerage/agency models, claims operations, compliance, and state-by-state regulatory considerations
  • Proven ability to build and scale a new business, product, or market from early stage to meaningful revenue
  • Highly analytical operator who can translate data into commercial decisions
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to align product, marketing, legal, operations, finance, and external partners
  • Excellent judgment in regulated, complex, or ambiguous environments
  • Strong commercial instincts around pricing, packaging, conversion, retention, and unit economics
  • Ability to move quickly while maintaining a high bar for compliance, customer experience, and operational quality
  • Entrepreneurial mindset — you are excited to build the playbook, not just follow one
  • Clear communicator who can operate at both the executive/board level and the detailed execution level
NICE TO HAVES:
  • Experience in pet insurance, health insurance, property & casualty insurance, embedded insurance, or consumer insurance distribution
  • Experience launching insurance products across multiple states
  • Experience working with insurance carriers, MGAs, brokers, TPAs, claims administrators, or reinsurance partners
  • Experience in a high-growth startup or marketplace environment
  • Familiarity with subscription, telehealth, pharmacy, veterinary, or healthcare-adjacent business models
  • Experience building financial models, board-level reporting, and business-line operating plans
WHY THIS ROLE IS EXCITING:
  • You’ll have the opportunity to build and own a major new business line at Dutch
  • You’ll operate like the CEO of the insurance vertical, with direct responsibility for strategy, execution, growth, and P&L
  • You’ll help bring a more accessible, integrated pet insurance experience to millions of pet parents
  • You’ll work at the intersection of veterinary care, telemedicine, insurance, pharmacy, and consumer healthcare
  • You’ll have significant executive visibility and the ability to shape a category-defining business
  • You’ll join Dutch at a moment when the company is scaling rapidly and expanding beyond telemedicine into a broader pet health platform
WHY WORK FOR DUTCH?
  • Competitive compensation between $175,000 – $250,000 base salary, plus equity and performance-based incentives. Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and location.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible PTO
  • Remote-first culture
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on pets and the people who love them
  • The opportunity to help build one of the most important consumer healthcare companies in pet care
DUTCH'S GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

Pets First – Business and medical decisions are always guided by the pet’s best interest.
Agile Like a Cat – We move quickly with thoughtfulness and precision.
Creativity is our Catnip – We push boundaries and make complex topics easier to understand.
Be the Human Your Dog Thinks You Are – Lead with kindness, clarity, and care.
