Is $100 an hour good for consulting?

For a CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) consultant, earning $100 an hour is generally considered competitive, especially for those with specialized skills, industry experience, or certifications. Rates can vary based on location, project complexity, and client size, but this rate aligns with mid- to senior-level consulting in the industry.

Is 30 too old to get into consulting?

CPG consultants, like many consulting roles, often value experience and industry knowledge over age. Starting a career in consulting at 30 is common, and many professionals transition into the field after gaining relevant skills or prior work experience. Age is generally not a barrier if you have the necessary expertise and a strong understanding of consumer packaged goods.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CPG Consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CPG Consultant, you need strong analytical skills, industry knowledge in consumer packaged goods, and typically a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with data analytics platforms, CRM systems, and market research tools is commonly required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability help consultants build client relationships and deliver actionable insights. These skills are crucial for driving business growth and providing strategic recommendations in the highly competitive CPG sector.

What are some typical challenges a CPG Consultant faces when working with clients in the fast-moving consumer goods sector?

CPG Consultants often encounter challenges such as balancing short-term sales goals with the client's long-term brand strategy, navigating rapidly changing consumer preferences, and integrating new technologies within established processes. They must quickly adapt to each client's unique market position and internal culture, while delivering actionable insights that drive measurable results. Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams—such as marketing, sales, supply chain, and data analytics—is key to overcoming these challenges and ensuring successful project outcomes.

What is the highest paid type of consultant?

Management consultants, especially those specializing in strategy, mergers and acquisitions, or IT, tend to be the highest paid among consulting roles. Senior-level consultants with specialized skills and certifications such as an MBA or PMP often earn the highest salaries in the industry.

What is a CPG consultant?

A CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) consultant is a professional who advises companies in the consumer goods industry on product development, marketing, sales strategies, and supply chain management. They analyze market trends, optimize product placement, and help improve overall business performance, often using data analysis and industry knowledge.
