Job description

The Third Judicial District is seeking to fill a Court Operations Associate position to join the Winona County Court Administration team in Winona, MN.

The Court Operations Associate position is a fast paced, highly detail orientated position with a variety of responsibilities such as performing advanced clerical work, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring compliance with applicable court rules, policies, and standards.ย 

This position will work directly with the public, judges, and justice partners. Duties require the application of independent judgment and the interpretation of established laws, policies, procedures, regulations based on training and knowledge gained through experience on the job.

What Youย Willย Doย 

The following are examples of major job duties expected of this position:ย 

  • Perform the full range of court operation work that may involve responsibility for a specific area of court case processingย ย 
  • Perform a variety of advanced clerical functions and multiple case typesย 
  • Provide assistance toย attorneys, parties, self-represented litigants, judges, and the public by responding to a variety of questions in-person, over the phone, by mail, and/or electronically
  • Provide courtroom support by working with judges, court reporters, and other justice partners.
  • Review, enter, record, and update case information using an electronic case processing systemย and related applications and equipmentย 
  • Schedule andย maintainย court calendarsย 
  • Receive, process, and receipt payments due to the courtย 
  • Attend court and assist by calling cases, taking notes, and handling documents in the courtroom
  • May perform the duties of an Electronic Recording Equipment Operator (EREO) including recording and monitoring court proceedings

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of relevant job experience or greater, which may include but is not limited to customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work

  • Considerable knowledge of court procedures, policies, and records management
  • Experienceย working with the court's electronic case processing system

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and in compliance with all applicable court rules, policies, and statutes
