What does a court manager do?

A Court Manager oversees the administrative operations of a court. Their responsibilities include managing court staff, ensuring efficient case flow, maintaining records, handling budgets, and implementing policies to improve court processes. They work closely with judges, attorneys, and the public to ensure that the court runs smoothly and provides timely justice. Court Managers play a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and integrity of the judicial system.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a court manager?

To thrive as a Court Manager, you need strong organizational skills, knowledge of legal procedures, and often a degree in public administration, law, or a related field. Familiarity with case management systems, court scheduling software, and sometimes certifications like Certified Court Manager (CCM) are typically required. Excellent leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills help you effectively coordinate staff and interact with judges, attorneys, and the public. These skills ensure the efficient operation of court processes, fair case management, and a positive experience for all court stakeholders.

What are some of the main challenges a court manager faces in overseeing daily court operations?

Court Managers often encounter challenges such as balancing limited resources, managing high caseloads, and ensuring compliance with changing legal procedures. Effective communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to evolving technology are essential to successfully navigate these daily responsibilities.

Job description

THE COMPANY

Friedman Vartolo LLP is a fast-growing, New York-based law firm specializing in real estate and default services, with over 300 employees providing top-tier legal services to our clients in seven states. While our legal expertise sets us apart, it's our mindset that drives us forward. We bring a fresh, fast-paced energy that drives our momentum and shapes how we approach every challenge.

We are a company that chooses to dig deeper, solving problems at the root instead of settling for surface fixes. Here, there are no passengers because every individual adds value, owns outcomes, and moves the firm forward. With an underdog mentality, we embrace constant elevation, always sharpening, always climbing, and never coasting. When challenges come, we row together and lean in as one team to get the job done, no matter what.

Friedman Vartolo LLP is seeking an experienced Foreclosure Attorney to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be capable of drafting complex motions, handling court appearances, and working closely with clients, court personnel, and opposing parties. • Build and maintain professional relationships with court personnel to effectively manage case timelines, filings, and procedural requirements.
  • Oversee and mentor support staff, providing guidance on tasks related to legal documentation and client communication.
  • Draft and manage the preparation of complex motions necessary to move cases forward efficiently through litigation and loss mitigation processes.
  • Review and oversee the work of paralegals, ensuring that all drafted legal documents, including motions, pleadings, settlement and release agreements, payoff and reinstatement letters, status letters, and related loss mitigation correspondence, meet the firm's standards for quality and accuracy

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of experience handling foreclosure matters in New York State.
  • Applicants must be admitted to practice in New York (EDNY and SDNY is a plus).
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong legal writing and drafting skills, with a focus on complex motions and legal documents.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients, adversaries, and court personnel.
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to manage and guide support staff.
  • A proactive, independent worker eager to learn and grow within the firm.
