POSITION CONCEPT  
The SAP Basis resource will be the focal point for systems administration functions across all SAP landscapes, including SAP ECC, Portal, CRM, BW, BOBJ/BODS, BPC, and Solution Manager applications on ABAP, Java, and .NET platforms.  This includes, but is not limited to, the planning, coordination, and implementation of all changes related to SAP, performance and tuning analysis, capacity planning, systems support and planning, application support, and software/patching upgrades. 

This position can be hired at any level within the multi-level job family progression, based on education and experience.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   
1.    SAP Basis administration tasks include installations and upgrades, problem determination and resolution, software patching, support package application, performance tuning, and project sizing.
2.    Uses analytical skills to evaluate system performance, system health checks and implementation of tuning improvements.
3.    Participation in multi-landscape design solutions, architecture recommendations, and client strategies for continuous improvement.
4.    Responsible for the design and implementation of the Portal landscape upgrades and patches.
5.    Work closely with SAP Functional Team Leads to coordinate and ensure complete enhancements to company’s enterprise-wide SAP ECC and CRM/B (ISU) implementations.
6.    Technical leadership and participation in technical projects across multiple teams.

SAP Basis Architect 

Level of Responsibility
The SAP Basis Architect (SBA) is responsible for supporting leadership in creating and communicating an SAP systems architecture that supports TECO’s business strategy in a robust yet cost effective way. The SBA creates and maintains all TECO SAP related IT technology standards, solution/design templates, governance processes, and procedures for ensuring compliance. This role supports leadership in driving TECO’s use of SAP and related technologies across all geographic areas, businesses, and functions while providing guidance as needed on key strategic projects to ensure appropriate understanding of impacts (costs, effort, etc.) on requirements as well as to ensure consistency with strategic technology direction.  The SBA is responsible for ensuring that the IT infrastructure not only meets the immediate needs of the business, but also does so in a manner that will allow scalability. The SBA is responsible for strategic thinking in regards to the future needs that may arise in all areas of the enterprise and influence the acceptance of new technologies that drive consistency, efficiency & agility to the organization.

Required:    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent IT discipline (MIS).

Related Experience 
Required:    Minimum of twelve years of work experience related to the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of this position is required.   Experience in defining and driving a current and future state architectural BASIS roadmap that ensures that all initiatives are aligned with the goals of the business and projects are completed with the highest level of quality.  HANA Administration and Business Suite on HANA administration experience.  Proven track record of creating, delivering and managing the logical and physical design and implementation of a fully integrated enterprise environment.  Experience in leading focus groups, working to align Business and IT organizations.  Served in a technical leadership capacity on one or more SAP landscape implementations, upgrade initiatives, or database migrations.

Preferred:    Integration experience from an on premise ECC solution with SAP HANA Cloud solutions (e.g., SuccessFactors, Ariba, Concur, etc.) and HANA Cloud Integration as a middleware.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) 
Required:    Must have a proven track record and dedicated experience in support of the following areas of SAP Architecture:
•    Strong hands-on implementation and support experience working with the latest releases of SAP ECC, CRM, ISU, BW, and Solution Manager in a SQL server or SAP HANA Database environment across multiple clustered on premise and/or Cloud based solutions
•    Strong knowledge of multi-system landscape architecture and integration aspects between heterogeneous system technologies (Global focus desired), in the areas of build and support for ECC, CRM, PI, EP, BW and HANA
•    Experience with SAP NetWeaver administration and technical core tasks in windows environment including SAP software installation, upgrade, applying Support Packages, patches and fixes, installation of add-on software components, workload analysis, etc.
•    Ability to support technical implementations across the SAP system landscape as it evolves (i.e., development, test, staging and production) with in-depth knowledge in the SAP technical areas.  
•    Capable of establishing design, implementation, monitoring and optimization processes and procedures across SAP landscapes and dependent technologies
•    Ability to work cross organization, cross vendor and cross business on a regular basis and conduct vendor/technology agnostic evaluations
•    Ability to develop application roadmaps for SAP products including Solution Manager and GRC in support of Business requirements for use of products
•    Deep knowledge of SAP sizing technologies and quick sizer; ability to work with business to ensure supporting data is valid and correct
•    Ability to translate business data into infrastructure  requirements on multiple platforms and OS technologies (including Cloud)
•    Understanding of SAP and non-SAP front-end, mobile, access (including external), security requirements and tools (load balancers, web dispatcher, SAP GW's) to enable access to SAP applications and ability to design and recommend supporting infrastructure requirements.

SAP Basis Administrator Lead

Level of Responsibility


1. Lead/Consult (60%): Team, Project leadership, consulting, or cross-train peers
•    Manages the SAP support team in areas such as; development of support processes (internal and external), technical planning, and work coordination.  Responsible for the development, execution and measurement of effective internal service level agreements.  Participates in the establishment of the technical direction required for the IT team to meet the organization’s goals.  Responsible for development, maintenance and testing of contingency plans, hardware maintenance and lifecycle planning for the software, hardware and networking assets affecting SAP.  Recommends, implements, and assures compliance with policy and procedures affecting computing technology.  Manages SAP Support projects including scheduling the work, ensuring availability of resources, material etc., and ensures the quality of the deliverables.  Provides input and assistance to other IT projects. Participates in the setting of objectives, strategies, plans, programs, performance standards/measures and procedures, as a member of the IT Management team.
•    Responsible for the general supervision, direction, and development of SAP support staff.  Provides coaching and support to the SAP Support team in areas such as conflict resolution, problem solving, transfer of technical, administrative and managerial tasks, work processes and procedures, to meet organizational objectives. Monitors and manages performance issues as per the guidelines of the Corporate Policies and directives, and assists and supports the SAP Support team in identifying and implementing methods which increase efficiency and effectiveness.  Provides support to the SAP Support team in areas such as project execution, design and job estimation, in conjunction with other departments.  Promotes effective communications and working relations within the team, with IT and Business partners and with other support services.  Ensures the development of SAP Support team members to improve customer service and reduce the risk exposure of the organization to unforeseen departures.

•    Experience in working closely with key vendors/suppliers and review of reports and metrics for performance and capacity planning
•    Experience establishing policies, product and operating standards
•    Experience establishing SLAs, negotiating and managing both in-sourced and out-sourced IT services
•    Experience effectively building virtual IT teams and driving towards results
•    Experience working as part of a team to provide the optimal solution for both business needs and project standards
•    Familiarity with SAP on VMware
•    Experience in building strong formal and informal relationships
