POSITION PURPOSE
The Inventory Manager at Bayport Laboratories is responsible for overseeing all inventory control operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across the warehouse. This role leads inventory staff, implements best practices, and drives continuous improvement in inventory management processes to support business objectives and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Inventory Management & Control
  • Oversee and maintain accurate inventory records for all cosmetic products, including quantities, locations, and status.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce inventory control procedures to optimize stock levels and minimize costs.
  • Monitor inventory performance metrics such as turnover rates, carrying costs, and shrinkage.
Leadership & Team Management
  • Supervise, train, and mentor inventory staff to ensure high performance and adherence to company standards.
  • Assign tasks, monitor productivity, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Receiving and Inspection Oversight
  • Ensure all incoming shipments are properly received, inspected, and documented.
  • Collaborate with procurement and vendors to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain receiving protocols to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
Order Fulfillment Coordination
  • Partner with warehouse and order processing teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
  • Monitor inventory availability and coordinate replenishment to meet customer demand.
  • Address and resolve fulfillment issues related to inventory shortages or discrepancies.
Stock Rotation & Product Integrity
  • Implement and enforce proper stock rotation procedures (FIFO/FEFO).
  • Monitor shelf life and expiration dates of cosmetic products.
  • Develop strategies to reduce waste, spoilage, and obsolete inventory.
Inventory Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Generate regular reports on inventory status, variances, and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and implement strategies for managing slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
Quality Assurance Collaboration
  • Work closely with quality control teams to ensure compliance with product quality standards.
  • Oversee inventory-related quality checks and ensure proper handling of non-conforming goods.
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Manage and optimize the use of inventory management systems and tools.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
  • Lead or support system upgrades, implementations, and enhancements.
Cross-Functional Communication
  • Collaborate with procurement, sales, and operations teams to align inventory strategies with business needs.
  • Communicate inventory risks, opportunities, and status updates to leadership.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Advanced knowledge of inventory management systems and ERP software
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles, forecasting, and supply chain operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required; advanced skills preferred)
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Experience in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or consumer goods industry preferred
