Job description

Job Title: Production Manager

Overview

Tarte Cosmetics is seeking an experienced and highly organized Production Manager to lead and oversee production operations across our supplier network. This role is responsible for managing a team of Production Coordinators while ensuring the timely execution of product replenishment, and inventory accuracy within a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

The Production Manager will serve as a key operational leader, owning supplier performance, production planning execution, inventory controls, and risk management. This individual must be a strong people manager who can coach, develop, and hold their team accountable while driving operational excellence across production and inventory workflows.

Responsibilities:

People Leadership & Team Management

  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of Production Coordinators.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct regular reviews.
  • Oversee coordinator workload distribution to ensure timely execution of replenishment activities.
  • Review and present internal Coordinator Scorecards to assess performance and identify development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative, detail-oriented, and accountability-driven team culture.

Production & Supplier Management

  • Oversee production execution across replenishment items to ensure on-time delivery of finished goods.
  • Lead weekly Production Reviews, tracking timelines, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Manage onboarding of new suppliers from an inventory and production readiness perspective.
  • Serve as the primary owner of supplier production performance, escalation management, and issue resolution.
  • Lead internal Supplier Scorecard Reviews, including OTIF (On-Time In-Full) performance and date variance tracking (weekly/monthly).
  • Drive supplier risk management initiatives, identifying potential disruptions and implementing corrective actions.

Inventory Management & Controls

  • Own end-to-end inventory accuracy across the production lifecycle.
  • Lead monthly End-of-Month (EOM) inventory reviews and reconciliations.
  • Manage annual on-site physical inventory counts during year-end, including preparation, execution, and post-count reconciliation.
  • Conduct Absolute Inventory Accuracy post-mortem reviews to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and manage Out-of-Stock (OOS) risks, cancellations, and recovery plans.
  • Oversee cancellation management processes to minimize financial and operational impact.

Reporting, Systems & Process Improvement

  • Own production and inventory reporting, trackers, and dashboards to ensure data accuracy and visibility.
  • Ensure proper use of ERP systems for inventory transactions, receipts, and reporting.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Planning, Logistics, Finance, and Product Development to align production and inventory strategies.
  • Identify process gaps and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and supplier performance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in production, supply chain, or operations.
  • Proven experience managing supplier performance, production timelines, and inventory controls.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach and develop high-performing teams.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory reconciliations, physical counts, and month-end close processes.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience working with ERP systems in a production or inventory environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present operational insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Travel is required.
