About the team and position 

The Corporate Insurance Claims Coordinator is responsible for the intake, review and handling of auto, liability and property claims from inception to closure. This role will be responsible for reporting covered losses and liability claims to Carvana's Third Party Administrator ("TPA") and other responsible insurance carriers. The Corporate Insurance Claims Coordinator must maintain regular communication with Carvana's operational teams to ensure timeliness of incident reporting and to collect other necessary details required to investigate claims, such as employee statements, pictures, police reports, other party contact information, etc. This role will act as the single point of contact for carrier and TPA adjusters, and anyone else involved in the claim in order to proactively provide updates and information to ensure the claim progresses and is handled appropriately. The role will also partner with Safety to assist with incident investigations where necessary. Incidents and claims are reported, tracked and managed within Carvana's Risk Management Information System ("RMIS"). The Corporate Insurance Claims Coordinator will be responsible to follow a regular schedule for claim follow up and documenting claim progress and settlements within the RMIS. In addition to the claim handling responsibilities of this role, the Corporate Insurance Claims Coordinator may be assigned special projects, as well as contribute ideas to process and system enhancements in an effort to promote the success of the Corporate Insurance Team and Carvana. 

The Corporate Insurance Claims Coordinator reports directly to the Corporate Insurance Sr. Specialist within the Corporate Insurance Department. This role will focus on coverages and losses involving Carvana's owned commercial fleet vehicles, auto liability and other property and general liability claims that may arise.

This is a fully on-site position, Monday through Friday, at our corporate HQ in Tempe, Arizona.

What you'll be doing 

  • Receive reports of incidents from both internal and external sources and ensure timely claim reporting to insurance carriers and TPA. 
  • Investigate and maintain both internal and carrier reported claims to ensure timely and appropriate resolution and closure.
  • Verify policy coverages and independently makes determination to self-insure vs. carrier insured claims. 
  • Secure and organize pertinent information collected during incident reporting and incident investigation and fully documents claim handling progress within RMIS. 
  • Partner with Carvana's Safety personnel to share details of incidents and to provide incident investigation support where necessary.
  • Regularly communicate with Fleet Maintenance Manager to provide timely claim updates for damaged CMV Fleet vehicles
  • Responsible for other insurance program and claim administration functions, such as dissemination of Carvana's insurance policy and auto liability insurance cards to field operational groups and training support
  • Perform other duties as assigned
