Job description

The Molly Pitcher Inn and Oyster Point Hotel has an exciting sales opportunity at our beautiful Navesink River-front properties in Red Bank, NJ. The Corporate Sales Manager will be responsible for bringing in new business and maintaining current sales and corporate events in our busy venue, reporting to our Director of Sales. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sales, great follow-through skills, as well as the ability to multitask and maintain professional composure under pressure.

SUMMARY 

The Sales Manager actively solicits and creates memorable, well-executed events using deliberate and mindful event planning, warm and caring service and consistent menu delivery and execution.   The Sales Manager will be a talented, savvy individual with excellent selling skills looking to work for two prestigious boutique hotels in the hospitality industry. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, highly organized and motivated with exceptional time management skills and holding the highest levels of integrity and accountability.

Work Schedule:      Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm plus special events that may require evenings and/or weekends.

Please note:            This is an in-person, on-site position only

Compensation:         $60,000 plus Discretionary, Performance-based Bonus (base compensation based on applicable experience)


Responsibilities
  • Responsible for soliciting and contracting corporate event business with a focus on growing sales.
  • Manage all account details so that pertinent aspects of solicitation, qualification and closing are complete timely and accurately.  This will include negotiation of group rates (overnight guest rooms/room rental), blocking of function space, producing a contract, credit application information and any other requested documentation necessary to finalize the agreement.
  • View and create contracts, menus, and paperwork for the clients. Review contracts and handle any issues/concerns with clients. Follow-up with new and current clients to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Answer a high volume of sales calls, e-mails, and appointments with timely correspondence. This includes answering a high volume of calls pertaining to current customers and maintaining open communication with internal, key business partners.
  • Excellent ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Must collect accurate information, while always working to de-escalate situations and resolve conflict.
  • Provide personalized solutions for our clients, enhance our reputation and business by working with all needed departments to ensure we exceed clientele’s expectations.
  • Must be able to meet and greet customers at the beginning of all scheduled events.
  • Attend trade shows and other community events, as necessary, to represent the property and acquire new business leads.
  • Assist the Director of Sales and Marketing with the yearly marketing plans and budgets.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 5 years event sales experience, preferably in the hotel hospitality industry.
  • Experience with cold call solicitation of businesses.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Must be organized, personable, motivated, and a self-starter
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task within a busy event sales office.
  • Must be a team player, capable of working and maintaining composure under pressure, all while promoting a positive atmosphere.
  • Must be professional and polished, with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships in an upscale environment
  • Ability to handle a high volume of calls, emails, and operational demands with the utmost degree of professionalism, while meeting all-time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Must be able to follow and apply company policy and procedures, including all SOP’s.
  • The position requires mobility. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, kneel, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, reach, and manipulate objects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.
