Job description

Administrative Assistant- Cornerstone Ministry

Alfred Street Baptist Church (ASBC) is a vibrant, faith-driven community committed to serving God and the people around us. ASBC is home to over 12,000 members and we have more than 80 ministries that are committed to our mission of Building Disciples to Win the World for Christ. We value collaboration, service, and excellence—and we’re looking for team members who share that commitment.

This role supports the Ministers for Children and Youth through typical office duties including organizing and coordinating meetings, calendar management, email correspondence, event logistics, and document preparation. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a professional, service-oriented demeanor.

This is a full-time position located in Alexandria, Virginia. The incumbent is under the day-to-day supervision of the The Minister for Youth and The Minister for Children.

Schedule: ONSITE, Tuesday- Friday, 9am-7pm

Weekends: Occasional weekend support for events and programs as needed

What You’ll Do

Administrative Support & Communications

  • Provide administrative support to Ministers for Children and Youth including email correspondence, memos, letters, spreadsheets, and forms
  • Manage calendars and coordinate meetings for ministry leaders
  • Answer and monitor incoming calls and emails in a pleasant, professional, and courteous manner
  • Serve as the point of contact for Cornerstone Ministries and provide information related to events, schedules, and weekly services

Event Logistics & Coordination

  • Provide event logistics support for large events
  • Reserve spaces onsite and offsite and attend planning meetings, taking minutes as needed
  • Create and send event-related emails and reminders to stakeholders
  • Coordinate packets, assemble booklets, and create certificates and programs as needed

Financial & Supply Management

  • Review invoices and prepare fund requests for payment
  • Order and maintain ministry and office supplies
  • Assist with distribution of supplies and ministry items as needed
  • Perform related administrative tasks and special projects as assigned

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • 3-5 years of office administration experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Available to work Tuesday through Friday 9am-7pm and support evening and weekend events as requested
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to build rapport with colleagues
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
  • Experience answering phones and greeting guests in an office setting
  • Comfortable using collaborative tools and applications

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous experience at a church or nonprofit organization
